It's hard to say, but I would say this is Jimmy's finest guitar work from any live or studio work. The guy is beyond mortal. They are all all- stars! The thing that makes Jimmy the GOAT is his diversity and ability to play different styles, and in differing keys. Not just his speed.

A MONSTER.....As i said, in my comment, for me, the guy was possesed by the devil, or a demon, it wasn't a human being who played in that song....Qnd he lead the 3 other monsters, to play one of the best performance ever....The only guy i saw, who could challenge that kind of performance, coming from another galaxy, is Jimi Hendrix....It's madness....And i say that, after 30 years i played guitar, and played with bands, jammed, etc....😅👍✌️I know what i'm talking about....

This is an example, just one, of why Led Zeppelin broke the world record for the highest demand for tickets at 20+ million requests for their 2007 reunion concert at the O2 Arena (with Jason filling in for his father on drums) twenty-seven years after they disbanded. Fricking incredible, and unmatched.

In the summer of 1980, our local rock station announced Zeppelin was going to tour North America, and my city was on the itinerary, some friends and I were planning on getting tickets, then John Bonham.................I never got the chance to see Zeppelin. All during 1981, movie theaters would do midnight showings of The Song Remains the Same, and I saw this movie several times on the big screen, and at the end of Dazed and Confused, during that brief solo Bonzo performed, I thought the camera was sped up for more dramatics, until I realized it was Bonzo in all his glory. The whole movie is awesome, I recommend watching it.

I think it’s been mentioned before that Page actually sped up the footage just a hair for dramatic effect. To my knowledge, that’s not actually been confirmed-I only bring that up because it has been a topic bantered about before.

I am 64 yrs old and when I was a teenage in the 70's, I did not go the live show, I grew up in Orange County CA. But, when the concert movie came out, some of the movie theaters would have a midnight showing of The Some Remains the Same. They would set up monster speakers in the theater and crank it up loudly. Going in buzzed off a joint or 2, this was an awesome concert. It was my dream to see LZ live and in 1980, they announced a tour in the states including Los Angeles, I could not wait. On a September day, it was announced that John Bonham died from alcohol poisoning. My chances of seeing LZ live was gone, but I still will watch this concert to know this would be the closet I will get to see them live.

As a guitar player who was inspired by Page to play, I can tell you that from even a player's pov, his playing is off the charts. The originality, creativity, and innovation are second to none. There really is no other guitarist like him. I've never felt the wonder and magic that is Jimmy, that is Zeppelin from any other band. Lots of great bands out there, but Zep is the #1 rock band in album sales for good reason.
@markfx12 Жыл бұрын
Scott Mckenzie's "San Francisco". Also, David McCallum Sr., a noted violinist, suggested the violin idea to Jimmy Page. Page also used a violin bow on the Yardbirds' song, 'Glimpses'. A British rock band of the mid '60's, The Creation had a song with a violin bow on the guitar: Eddie Phillips on 'Making Time'.

They were the band to end all bands - the ultimate unit. Truly the perfect band at the perfect time. You know, you can go back and listen to live tapes dating back to 1969 to hear parts that would develop into what Dazed became by ‘73. It got stretched out to the exaggerated, barely recognizable but with much thanks to Bonzo, it all kept grooving rightly. He had tremendous guitar ears. 1973 was their technical pinnacle year. The song continued in their live set for the short ‘75 tour and was finally dropped after it. These ‘73 run throughs were especially magnificent and magical, (The San Francisco song is a 1967 tune by Scott McKenzie and was a huge hit for him.) Check it out.

So glad this wasnt blocked! (Yet?). I loved this performance, and it was released in their Song Remains the Same live album. I remember every note! Page and Plant are so perfect playing off each other. Just remember that 5 years earlier when Page formed the band, a critic stated they would "sink like a lead balloon ", and the name Led Zeppelin was formed!

Actually the name came from Keith Moon, him and Page and I forget who else jammed and talked about a band, Keith said that would go over like a lead Zeppelin or balloon I for get, and I think the who manager told page it would be hard to play with broken arms.

Such a good reaction!! This performance is one of my very favorite things. Such improvisation - a work of art. The longest version of Dazed was almost 45 minutes long - LA Forum March 1975. Since I've Been Loving You from this gig is fabulous. Don't know if you've reacted to anything from their 2007 "reunion" concert with John Bonham's son Jason on drums. Dazed and SIBLY were in the set. The concert is fantastic!

It was the good version😂The best version (except on the video it's cuted off, you must listen to the audio version, which is complete....There's, solething, like 1 minute left)....But, when you see them, it's better😂I'm agree with your followers....You can see how they're in....Page was possesed by the devil himself that night😂And, he lead the other monsters, to play one of the best live performance i ever saw.....Only, Jimi Hendrix, can challenge that kind of monstruous performance, with so much quality, energy, and as you said, 75% of the song is a jam....Improvisation....It's PHENOMENAL....Peace from France ✌️

Great song, great reaction, great choice of video. The studio version of this is much shorter, of course, but is as disorienting and trippy as this in it's own, concentrated way. In a lovely twist of fate, I managed as a young fellow to avoid ever hearing this song until one night when I was about 20, and listening to my roommate's Zep album...while tripping on lsd. Yes, the song is trippy, but that night it was turbo-trippy. ☺ It's been a favorite song, every since.
