Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZbin, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZbin. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZbin, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

The musicians are the incomparable Funk Brothers, the greatest house band a studio could have. And, of course, the Temptations. Despite its long intro radio stations played the heck out of this record back in 1972. Thanks for your reaction to a classic Motown sound. 👏👏👍

@@joelliebler5690 Yes I know of them. They were pretty amazing too. But I do believe the Funk Brothers played on more number 1 hits than any other musicians.

This is such an iconic song. One of the great songs. I'm glad you played the long version. I was 6 or 7 years old and remember singing "Papa was a rolling stone..." around the house and doing the clap and singing the chorus with them in the car when it came on the radio.

Thanks, Critical! The Temptations were genius.. they also performed a shortened version of this live.. and had many other "top 40 hits"... this song remains my very favorite.. how can it be funky & haunting at the same time?.. only these guys... if you appreciate this, you might also enjoy "Ball of Confusion"... love your reactions...

You cant talk about Motown with out saying The Temptations , glad you did the longer cut. So much great "funk" in this and the horns are so great . The meaning of the song is sad either way you look at it . Knowing is knowing , before or after either would be sad . Great reaction !

What you are listening to is an iconic group (the mighty Temptations), being produced by an iconic producer (Norman Whitfield)....The Temps were GREAT great. Influential. The prototype for the modern male vocal group. A huge moment in their careers and for Motown's transition into the next decade...Proved that they were not just 60's legends.

Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong in 1971. It was given to the Temptations in 72 It was their: Magnus Opus. The funk brothers were the Motown studio band that backed all there headliners

The Temptations' version is a voyage down a trippy lane that few performers have the skill and talent to navigate. It could have been repeated over and over again in the Vietnam jungles while soldiers tripped out Apocalypse Now-style in the war-torn haze.

If you would like to hear this done differently, I would suggest going to Justin Johnson on the tube. He plays all parts of this on bass. He's a great blues player that usually uses a slide . He's also invited a three string shovel electric guitar played with a slide. You might enjoy it !

i always thought that another spin on the line "all he left us was alone" could be all he left us was "a loan"...a debt, owing someone for his misdeeds, or, a portion of himself-time and content, something not permanent, not forever, not owned. Obviously that wasnt the intent but I always thought of that spin.

The companion song to this song is Love Child by the Supremes. Unfortunately these 2 songs were prophetic as Black Gen X'ers were the first generation of mostly Fatherless boys. Those boys then grew up and created Gangsta Rap and that Pandoras Box is still open.
