My son, Army Staff Sargent of Fort Carson, has been going thru this very same bs... as heartbreaking as it's been, it's more a shock. How are any to trust the solder next them, on the front lines, no less, if they've been so corrupted to lie on each other. However, no matter what was thrown at him, he stood as the man he knows himself to be, a true man of character, taking all the hits, to still eagerly jump out of bed hit the ground running to be on that line for us no matter what. He shined his excellence of character over the so called superiors & so called generals. Praying & knowing God's hand in all things. Oh Lord, please clean house!!!! Our solders already commit their lives, their all. That this treatment of them is treasonous! Where the hell is the accountability??? I hope others were paying attention & learn something from it. Thank you for what you do Sir. And thank you for putting this out. I pray it encourages my son. Even tho he may not think he needs it. He deserves it! To know the truth he stands for is real. My dad served 23 yrs USAF. Last few years was 1st Sgt on base. I cannot imagine he would ever treat another that way. Although, in 78 he retired because things were changing and he was done.

I was a Marine infantryman. No where near the level of you SF guys, but I went through something very similar. The level of bureaucracy and red tape that some have to deal with in the military is absurd. So glad that you got that call from the President and got to come on here and tell your story.

82nd Airborne 79 -83 no combat but twice the system fkd me over but saved the last time when I would not re-enlist and 3 wks short . Took the chain of Command all the way to the Division Commander and .........the Command Sergeant Major, my next stop would havebeen the Pentagon to got what was just and I wanted but I had the path to get out without losing anything that I had earned so I left. I had some great NCO's and Big Brass step up and save my ass in those last couple weeks , everything held on the low low until my last of hundreds if not thousands of my signatures since joining the United States Army , it was my luck that it was our anual 82nd Division run with my squadron mingling around in a loose formation where they had mustered up waiting for the call , after a signed out I walked to the front of my Troop ( while Top and the Major stood off to the side and talking ) who got quiet and was all ears , I shouted to them , thank you to my Brothers and God Speed to you .....and may karma catch the rest ! Just a few boos that was drowned out by the mass , I got a great send off but short as the 1st Sergeant quickly moved in to take command, he and I had got along until the very end , he did not say good bye or good luck or anything but he did give me a smile and a nod as I moved on past him as he was walking in to center up on the Troops , he was butt hurt that I had refused taking on a rank and signing up for another round , he was counting on it and it did not happen like they wanted, he was a true Lifer with 30 years and made it clear all the time that he hated civilians and now I was one ! I got out ahead of all the formations and down and out before getting caught up in the thousands of Paratroopers who would soon be rocking to a loud and thunderous cadence that I had been a part of ........AIRBORNE !

Had my own experience and for me the biggest disappointment was realizing that what I had thought to be a noble institution was in fact an ol' boys network, where if you pointed out issues or tried to do the right thing in spite of what you were being told to do, you were toast and there was Fuck all you could do but get out.

I was forcibly included in a witch hunt for a particular junior officer (JO) our admiral didn't like. He sat up parameters very difficult for the JO to meet a d instructed us to report his every move. That was one order I didn't obey and I told my commander how I felt. He agreed and didn't make any negative reports. We actually helped him achieve those unfair goals set for him.

What they put Chief Gallagher, his wife and children through was criminal.
