Shawn, I recently came across you for the first time by watching a five year old episode of Tone Talk. I'm an instant fan of your playing. I also dig LsL guitars.

This guitar and your brown PRS are my favorite guitars that you own. I just found a music store here in KC that carries LsL guitars and I was shocked. Mostly their series 1 guitars but I may just have to figure out a way to buy one. Watched a shop tour video and really liked their philosophy of building guitars.

Hi Shawn. Great playing! The solo you played on Jehovah Jireh is one of my all time favorite guitar solos.

Wow I don't even remember that solo..but thanks so much! That had to have been over 20 years ago.

Shawn Tubbs Yea, I was introduced to it in 1998 by Bill Duke (you may know him). He was worship leader in Chennai, India back then and the song was part of the set list for a concert that he asked me to accompany him on. If I'm not mistaken Shawn you played on Joyful, Joyful too, again a fantastic piece.

(ps - were you on the 'blown away" tour? i did the scoring/programming/sfx or whatever you want to call it for the concert intro ending with the house slamming down:) fun gig, got to see it when it came to nashville. peace!

Wonderful demo! My question was going to be if these pickups are noiseless which you do touch bass on and say they can get noisy... I have a number of Suhr’s which have the noise canceling system in the which is wonderful... my question is, how noisy do you feel your LSL pickups are compared to your Suhr?
@ShawnTubbs5 жыл бұрын
The LSL pickups are pretty much wide open vintage- style single coils so they will for sure have some noise issues compared to a noise-canceling pickup.
@JessLoh9 жыл бұрын
Great playing and demo, Shawn! I really enjoyed it. Do you know what woods Lance used for your guitar?
@gbaren9 жыл бұрын
Great playing. LSL's are supurb. Love the intro to the tune. What effects did you use?
@sowhatnow72247 жыл бұрын
Hey Shawn, Love the demo and just picked up an LSL Topanga (LP Special-ish) as well. Running a similar setup with a Suhr strat and the Archer Icon. I still won't get your tone (hands) but would love to know what settings you have on the Archer?
@ShawnTubbs7 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve, man that was a couple years ago so its hard to remember but from what I can recall, I kept output higher than I normally would to hit the amp harder and really low gain with the treble pretty bright.
@sowhatnow72247 жыл бұрын
Thanks Shawn

Hey Shawn! You said you raised the action when you got it. Do you play with your action higher than most "stock" action? Do you have specs? (i.e. I tend to set my action at 4/64 at the last fret)

Sweet Strat-ness going on there! Is the neck finished or unfinished?
@ShawnTubbs7 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks very much. They will do either. I originally got it with a finished neck and then took it off.

Looking at one locally, too far to play before I buy. curious, how the frets are compared to the Tuttle. I am in love with my Tuttle T.. perfect frets and neck. LsL looks to be right up there..
@ShawnTubbs4 жыл бұрын
Though the frets are really nice on my LSL, it's really hard to beat Tuttle. He's truly one of the best in the business.

I really am interested in getting one of these. I had a Nash S-63 but didn't bond with it (weird neck shape and dry, yet sparkly tone). While I do like Suhr and Anderson guitars, I find them way to stiff and percussive in a modern way. The Custom Shop Fender Journeyman Strat I had was just a total tone dud with a horrible setup. I hope an LsL will fit the bill. I am in need of a GOOD vintage voiced strat badly.
@ShawnTubbs8 жыл бұрын
There are so many talented builders out there. It takes time to find a great guitar that you can truly call home. I own a Suhr that I love but it's my more modern platform instrument. I've owned many Tom Anderson guitars and they are fabulous! Bill Nash builds great guitars as well. My LSL "tubby" is my vintage feel guitar and I love it because it truly has an old strat feel and tone. Lance is passionate about it and he truly gets guitar players that are after a vintage vibe but without the problems associated with old guitars. At the end of the day you just have to be willing to go for it and try guitars. Every guitar player is different THANK GOD and it takes time to find the right guitar but the great news is there is absolutely no shortage of truly great luthiers out there.

How is the tuning stability when using the tremolo and bending?
@ShawnTubbs4 жыл бұрын
I've got the trem set up to float and the spring tension is ok for double stop bends but not totally ideal. Single note bends are no problem but it is different and takes some very minor technique adjustments.

Im considering getting a Saticoy One Ash/MAple or An American Original 50's- Any Opinions
@ShawnTubbs6 жыл бұрын
I think at the end of the day for me, it's all about craftsmanship. Both guitars are going to be well-built instruments but there's something about a guitar that truly has it's own unique feel and character. Lsl guitars have a personal touch that's hard to duplicate.
@scottmurray85376 жыл бұрын
thanks- the one im looking at is ash-maple with the 50's pickups!
