@JoeSmith-iv3sf4 жыл бұрын
If anyone in the world can beat this records it's these types of guys but for quite a few reasons ppl talked about here they just didn't here. I wouldn't doubt that if a few of these strong men trained for 3 to 6 months they could hit 65 reps. Firstly the are all grown men, the combine guys are freaks but 21 or 22 yrs old. Also huge NFL contracts riding on it. Cardio is big issue here. A lot of NFL guys change the way they lift some as soon as they get in the league others a couple of yrs in. At a certain point who cares what you bench 550 or 625 you get paid by what's on the field. To throw up 50 reps after chest day yesterday and for shits and giggles is nuts.
@daiwilliams62324 жыл бұрын
Add the fact that they are lifting at a high altitude, performances would be better at sea level. The work strongmen do is markedly different to training for bench press reps

@@bigtony Not anymore! 51 reps: Justin Ernest (1999), Eastern Kentucky, DT The only player to bench press 225 pounds more than 50 times is Justin Ernest when the Eastern Kentucky defensive tackle had 51 repetitions at the 1999 Combine.Feb 17, 2020 By the way, Stephen Paea wasn't small. He was a DT drafted in the second round back in 2011. I remember him being a short 6 foot and 300 pounds! They did preface this by saying they had a heavy bench session the day before, and they consumed alcohol the night before. Idk about you but after a heavy bench day I'm beat and I also feel weaker after a night of drinking. The numbers they put up are damn impressive considering all the factors.

At the NFL combine, bench press is used as a test of muscle strength and stamina, in which athletes lift 225 pounds (102 kg) as many times as possible. Since 1999, only 17 men at the combine have managed to achieve more than 40 repetitions. Well done men.
