I recently started using a bullet journal (and now planner!) and I was a bit discouraged because my handwriting and doodles are not great at all lol I never thought about setting a topic and doodling based on it. I've always had a hard time trying to find an illustrative style, and I always go to photorealistic because styles are so hard, and this actually makes sense rather than the "just draw everyday and it'll come to you"

I really appreciate this video... I did start trying to "draw" using your suggestions. What helped me the most was putting into practice what you called your own "style" of illustration. Thank you for sharing your techniques. I enjoy illustrating. I would image over time my lines will look more confident, not so wiggly. Do you find holding your pen, marker, etc...a certain way helps steady your hand? Thanks.

chronicfish I hold my pen like this also. I have a very tight grip and the knuckle serves as a way to steady the pen. It brings me joy to see someone else with the same unusual pen holding style.
