Shazzan: The Complete Series

When two adventurous, twin teenagers, Chuck and Nancy, recombine the halves of a mysterious ring, they are instantly transported to ancient Egypt as masters of an all-powerful genie named Shazzan. Now, with the help of the mighty Shazzan, the twins seek the wizard who lives "behind the beyond," the only person able to help them return home. But even as the teenagers pursue their quest, every evil sorcerer in the desert kingdom desires the twins' magic ring and will stop at nothing to gain the power it grants over Shazzan.

Fun fact: Hanna-Barbera outsourced the animation for Shazzan to Toei Animation, the same studio that does the animation for Dragon Ball and One Piece, and also makes the Super Sentai and Kamen Rider series (Super Sentai is imported to the United States as Power Rangers).

These cartoons were amazing because they were able to cram an entire story in just 15 minutes and have an entire plot and conclusion. Now the cartoons of today can't even do that in like six or seven 30 minute episodes

Well both of them are based on certain cultural stereotypes. And by the way I'm not saying that as some Progressive twat it's just that the dress and that hairstyle and the accoutrements and that beard are very typical for that time. And pointy ears are a sign of mythical beings

This morning, I saw one of the episodes on DVD, "Raschid, the Apprentice Sorcerer", where Kabala, an evil wizard with a grudge on Shazzan, sends his somewhat inept apprentice sorcerer, Raschid, to get Chuck and Nancy to summon the giant genie! " Ring time!" "Ho-ho-ho-ho!"

I used to watch this show when I was about five years old. I always thought that the name of the show was "Shazam". It wasn't until I saw this clip on KZbin, today, that I realized that the show's name is actually "Shazzan." When I was in kindergarten, my brother and I would would act out scenes from this show in our backyard. Although I'm female, I would always play Chuck, and I'd make my brother play Nancy.
