There is so much omitted here, you don't just get an internship at Fermilab as a research assistant without having good credentials. It's the freaking Fermilab. She did BTech in electrical engineering from West Bengal Technical University, the university isn't that famous but most of the gems in STEM come out of her state Bengal in India, she must have been doing good in her academics or must have acquired some useful skills and her SOP must be really good for her to get a summer internship in Fermilab during her BTech. People from across the world try to get into Fermilab but only a handful do. Those who do are no joke. The proof is that she went on to get a PhD from MIT, average folk don't get that. She is a genius. So, stop making clickbait content Nas and make it sound like it's a piece of cake if you put your mind to it.

Sometimes it's the teacher or the way things are taught to a room of children / teenagers not the individual. Then they find there own way of learning or a good teacher comes along that sees there are many ways to teach, one way doesn't fit everyone.

There's a lot of professions out there that yes certain people can do without any grades but the position requires a certain standard of grades and education. Sampriti grew up in Kolkata, India, where she was an average student who failed physics and was told by her teacher to become a housewife. She did not let that discourage her and decided to study engineering at Jadavpur University. She applied for 540 internships out of which she was rejected by 539, she told NAS Daily in an interview. It was Fermilab, a particle physics laboratory in the US, where she finally got accepted. And so, she moved to the US from Kolkata, India to pursue her internship with Fermilab, where she worked as research assistant and it was love at first sight with Physics for Sampriti.

I think it’s all a matter where the opportunity arises. If you can do it in your home country, then do it. But if not then you may have to go to another country where you may get a better shot. It’s all about what you can and want to do at the end of the day. Also countries can do a lot more to make themselves a more attractive place for entrepreneurs. Just because India missed out on her, doesn’t mean it won’t miss out on someone else. There was another Indian back in the early 2010s who couldn’t get their US visa approved to work for Microsoft so they ended up going back to India and created their own successful tech startup company. The outcome for India in this situation was the exact opposite of the outcome for India in the video. India won’t have to worry about Brain Drain as long as it can create a great environment for entrepreneurs.

We all missed opportunities in life, but her high school teacher was a blessing in disguise for her. She believed in herself and never gave up, and probably had so many bright ideas in her mind. Not all teachers are kind in India. When in school abusive words like 'brainless creatures' and ' hay head' were hurled without any regret by some teachers. Many teachers do need to be educated on how to treat their students without prejudice. It is a subject that seldom gets mentioned.

@@Nrb2003 Correction : "All teachers are not kind anywhere in the World", just like there are good people and bad people everywhere, there are good cops and bad cops everywhere, it applies on teachers too. Yep, some teachers do need to be taught to be better teacher but you also have to acknowledge that no student is perfect either. I remember how naughty and a nuisance maker I was.. and the fact that you label "brainless creatures" as abusive is hilarious.. this generation has become so fragile, they get offended for absolutely nothing and taking out candle light marches for someone shouting at you.. ya need to develop a thick skin!

The role of a teacher is to guide and encourage a student and not denigrate him/her. We should expect the highest standards from a teacher who goes through a series of training to become one. Being rude and yes even calling a student ‘brainless creature ‘ will land a teacher in serious trouble with the school authorities in any progressive country. Sampriti still remembers the pain of being called out in the class. Let us empathize. If teachers are kind we would not need any more candle light marches in future. I know families who have been through this painful experience. Please do not mock. We need to make rough and tough tyres for our roads. Our students need to be guided to become sensitive and thoughtful citizens of tomorrow. Thank you.🙏

@@Nrb2003 I can imagine one saying that from a room full of teddy bears, someone who hasn't endured the world out there, someone who always gets away from people who criticise them because they don't want to hear any negative stuff about themselves. No matter what or how good you do, naysayers and criticism will always be there, and it's necessary too. Too much positivity breeds complacency which stagnates a person's growth. And calling us "brainless creatures" is a process of preparing us for the harsh World out there. But yes there is positive criticism &' negative criticism, if someone is criticizing with malice in their hart then one should distance themselves from them but if a criticism is made to genuinely bring an improvement, that is necessary criticism and then there are some that are made as a joke, like "brainless creatures", lightening up the class is important otherwise it gets boring. Getting hurt by "brainless creature" makes one petty and an attention seeking drama magnet (Karen). People will not stop mocking, it's you who needs to learn to control your emotions when someone is criticizing you, it's all about how you perceive it. And I think you're a sadist with your claim that we should make rough &' tough tyres cuz those tyres will cause accidents. The correct figure of speech is : "smooth roads don't make good drivers".
