there are many places that build Vardo's, yet few that actually build authentic Vardo's (built by us, the Roma people). if you are looking for a knock-off just google them, prices will vary based on size but your looking at 15,000-60,000 for a knock off. If you want a authentic built Vardo your looking at 30k-85k depending on size and type (reading/ledge/pot-cart/burton/etc).

Laura Dlink Yes. In Guatemala we build houses (shelters) for families who have nothing. A simple one-room structure of tin, 8’ x 16’ with a concrete floor. A family is usually 3-6 people and they think it’s a mansion. We are a spoiled, mostly ungrateful people.

If you put them on wheels you don't need any permit for them. I also need land. One of my co-workers lives near Vermont and has a lot of land. She just might let me build there. We haven't seriously discussed it. I am still working and have about six more years + to go. I would love to get started. There is a lot to think about. Sheila

It's big enough to have a composting toilet. Most tiny homes don't have a huge chest of drawers; they use the stair drawers/cupboards (her Japanese ones are similar), or the spaces under chairs or bed. She has a lot of storage space elsewhere so, if she wanted to, she could downsize further and get rid of the chest of drawers in her shower room to make space for a loo. I suppose her current location means that she doesn't have to.

Can we please drop the “Independent” word. Lots of women live by themselves. That word makes it sound like this is the 1950’s and sexiest. This is almost 2020!
@YourMajesty1435 жыл бұрын
Wow it just hit me, yeah we do use that word for women but not for men. I think the traditional mindset of women needing men is still very much latent and that could be why this kind of terminology is still being used. Let's wait and see once silent gen & boomers have died off, if that mindset is still pervasive.
@GryphonLady20075 жыл бұрын

I agree; I've been "independent" for 38 years, after divorcing the most useless, lazy man ever put on the planet! It's annoying to constantly hear that these women live "independently," as if they don't have any income.
@lucygray61623 жыл бұрын
When interviewing women, people also need to stop asking "do you have any children?" That was what little old ladies would ask back in the 60s and 70s when only a husband and children defined us as the main reason a woman existed. It can also be hurtful if the woman has had miscarriages or children who died. It's a very hard question to answer, and I've seen it bring a TV interview to a tense halt. I've lost two adult children, twenty and ten years ago, and I still struggle how to respond when some well-meaning person asks. Not mention its really no one's business.

It's cute and unique, but better suited for a backyard office space or to use for camping. It's rather impractical for full time living. I see a lot of wasted space, and they lost me with the cat's litter box being in the clothes dresser - we had a neighbor once who kept his cat's litter box in his bedroom closet - his clothes would smell like cat pee/poop, and on summer days, we could smell the odor through our closet which was directly above - we couldn't keep clothes in that closet because of it. Not to mention allowing a cat who's feet are in poo/pee walk all over kitchen counters where food is made.

Deidra Dahl if they get bathed regularly, it’s not so bad. I keep a packet of wipes near my door, and clean the dogs feet before they come indoors. I am a new subscriber but I have watched many of your tiny house vlogs as a possible option for me one day soon but what I have not seen or possibly have missed is where and how many of these people settle on a lot spot and all the costs and particulars about that which is critical for many of us considering this option/life. This is a big part of trying to have a tiny house life. What exactly are all the various issues and costs involved. And also perhaps the best states/cities/towns for attempting this life at the lowest costs and best land availability. Please address this important topic in future tiny house videos. Thanks much!

A litter box is pretty easy to maintain. Keeping your house with ZERO smell, ppl just dont get a good litter box, good sand nor clean it often. OR they feed their cats really badly!

Oh, of course. My cat knew perfectly well that all she had to do to get outside was to meow at the door and she would be let out.

I really love her design, but I probably would nix the dresser in the front entrance and make that side into toilet area, and incorporate a composting toilet in that space.
