So maybe this is just how we do things in the UK but a shepherd's pie is traditionally made with lamb, hence 'shepherd'. Whilst a cottage pie is made with beef. Looks good though! 😃

Shepherd's Pie is a traditional English dish. Accordingly Cottage Pie is made with ground/minced beef and Shepherd's Pie with ground/minced lamb. In England I don't think they add any cheese with the topped mashed potato crust.

I'm just saying that instant mashed potatoes done right taste great in a shepherd's pi; some salt, black pepper, butter and milk. You won't be able to notice with the meat, veggies, and cheese. ALSO, that cheese is the GOOD sliced cheese. Sargent anyone? Deli slices? That's definitely a mild or sharp cheddar cheese of good quality. Not the pasteurized cheese product. Pretty obvious that a lot of people commenting don't cook very much or go to the grocery store.

If you look at the name it's Shepard pie and a Shepard farms sheep so the meat should be lamb. You can use beef but then the dish is called cottage pie just to let people know.
