Some women in the Philippines have to understand is when you date an older (senior) male. They have already experienced marriage, children, and anything else that comes a long in life. For situation, as she described, she was hopping for change and decided to keep herself in the relationship unfortunately to the end of his life. Maybe he knew his life was going to end. I took my girl to a restaurant on our first date and she wanted a vegetable dish. When she saw that they were charging four whole dollars for it, she gasped, said it was too expensive, and changed her order to something else. She knew I was paying. Wow! Killed my heart with this episode! She is such a sweetie. I'm so sorry about her tragedy! My wife(from Leyte) and I met shortly after the loss of our spouses. Our understanding of loss really helped each other recover. Our birthdays were only 2 days apart; it was 2021 and us being in our 50's knew what we wanted. We married in 2022 and are planning our retirement for next year. I have the most wonderful filapina in the world. I hope she reads this and finds some good feelings of hope! If you go into a relationship thinking "They will change", you're in the wrong relationship. Probably why my wife and I work so well with each other is that we love each other just the way we are. My wife has changed a little, but I think she's changed for the better. I've changed a little as well by not playing video games so much. Mainly because I love spending time with my wife because she loves me the way I am and is so compassionate and giving and takes such good care of me, it just makes me want to spend more time with her. Basically, don't expect your partner to change. If you love them the way they are, then that's amazing. If you're in love with them but expecting them to change, you're not in love with that person. You're in love with the idea of what you think they could be if they would just change.

My fiancée, a wonderful sweet lady there, and I have succeeded through almost 2 1/2 years, our visa process has come down to waiting for the actual Visa in a week or two. Sorry to hear the young ladys misfortune. Always think of life as a never ending experience of learning. Sometime that special person will walk into your life and you will know it when it happens. Yes, if YOU invited her someplace. But if you agreed together and paid for her everything, or paid for most times together, or even 30% of the time? Wrong, wrong. WRONG. That is what low value women expect. She's not your wife yet, she's an adult human being who should be able to pay her own way and would have had to if she was at home - so why should he have to pay for she? That is a trap SIMPS fall into. i.e. They want the "traditional' Filipina, but also expect easy fast sex, they pay for everything, thus effectively making her a paid whore - while fooling themselves they've 'snared a real traditional Filipina." There's nothing "traditional' about any of that. You might remember a while back Pea interviewed a woman who left her family home where she was about 12 I think, went to the city, sold things on the street, and built her life up from there. One of the things she said was that she would be too embarrassed to expect a man to pay for her. THAT is one green flag of a high value woman.

Every attack on his character can be explained by failures to communicate and him being frugal. The way you two talk, you make it sound as if frugality is a vice. It's not in my culture. Would you say that frugality is a vice in the Philippines? If so, this surprises me based on what you've said about getting the maximum value out of toothpaste and shampoo. Pea you are a very unique Filipina who I consider a Filipino American because you’ve mastered the English language. Your recent visit to the US is a good example of how you blend in with us. I have to chime in to this posting because as a foreigner and Filipino it’s the opposite with me. I can relate with Christine and so sad she met the wrong guy. What a terrible experience and I can see the love she had. I wish in my relationship with my Fiancé in the Philippines she would show her love to me as well. Not what I thought. I have to say that it isn’t easy like we are to believe to find a partner there. It takes a lot of patience. In my case my relationship has been over 3 years. Like Christina I’ve showered my love to a beautiful conservative woman from Pampanga who is a professional Civil Engineer and belongs to a sorority of ladies in her parish in Lubao. Aside from financially supporting her, gifts and I’ve showered her with my herana of love songs. I know heranas are no longer popular but the Filipino culture I know was making me do it. For my vocal talent I took advantage of the situation. What a better way to express my love. I wish I could download them to share with everyone. With everything I am doing I have yet to experience her love for me. She is a victim of a bad marriage from a commoner there that was an abusive one. In the summer of 2022 we met in person and I proposed to her in Subic Bay and we are engaged. She tells me it’s difficult for her to show her love but perhaps in due time. I struggle with this but I continue to be there for her. Now after a year of waiting for her Fiancé visa approval, soon it will be a reality for her to be by my side. However the certainty isn’t concrete until she steps into US soil with my arms around her. I will be relieved. The lesson is, it is important to understand that there is a significant effort to courting a Filipina. Is it worth the work and patience? Absolutely! If you find someone like Christina there is no turning back. I see my fiancé in her who shows the same values. Once she begins to realize the difference in me it will be smooth sailing. I am confident there is hope.

Pea, What a surprising twist! I believe what happened to Christine is this: Michael already knew he had cancer before they met. He is a doctor, and he already knew he had a form of cancer from which there was no known cure. He did not want to commit because he knew his life was going to be short. He is a doctor, and alone in Cebu the only thing he could think of when he felt "sick" was to ask Christine to come and care for him? That only makes sense if he knew his illness was incurable and not treatable, because he already knew he was terminal. He was looking for the comfort of a loving companion, not for health care.He should have told her from the beginning instead of selfishly consuming years of her life and making her fall in love with him, and ( pardon the French), he damned well should have paid for EVERY PENNY of it. Christine was used in a very cold, cruel way. I am sorry, Christine. I know you will find true love and at last experience what it feels like to also be loved in return as you deserve. I know you loved Michael, but honey, he did you and the world a favor when he passed. The purpose of life is to love. And that is even MORE true if you know your life is going to end soon. Jesus said there is more happiness in giving than in receiving. Disease is fueled by emotion. Being selfish and stingy no doubt hastened his demise. Love and be loved precious Filipina. You deserve it.

It sounds like he was disrespectful Darryl. She did everything any man could ask for and he took her for granted and in doing so disrespected her. Being cheap could be excused and written off by many in the Philippines as frugal but the way he went about it was disrespectful and that's not okay in any culture. I had just watched this video yesterday and upon hearing that long distance dedication it struck me as a fitting song for Christine. She is still hurting. That just tells us she is a human being and a good decent one at that. In time she will meet somebody new whether it be Filipino or foreigner and hopefully he treats her as she deserves. Please don't try to downplay the fact we have our own home grown problems and that guy sounds like one of them.

Christine-I treat my beautiful Filipina fiancé like a Angel on earth because she is. Thousands of good American men would love to be with you. I met my Filipina in 2020. With covid and the increase in time to get a visa she is still in the Philippines. We can't wait for the day she arrives in Pittsburgh. We are in love and will wait as long as it takes. Christine don't give up when God closes one door he opens another just take your time going threw it.

That was some story. 3 years wasted away with no positive results. Sometimes I think when you have a major personality flaw it effects your whole life. Like him getting cancer early in life and dies. He definitely wasn't the right guy. I don't understand why people treat others like he did. My favorite quote is, do unto others as you would have others do unto you. You treat people with respect no matter their status in life. Rich or poor, good or bad. Although I do have a difficult time respecting bad people, it doesn't mean I can't treat them well. I hope Christine finds a guy that really does love her and respects anres for her in the best way. She deserves to be truly loved..

Well in a relationship don't expect that you can change a person, if you see something that you don't like don't try to fix it .Time is the only thing that you can't take back or replace it. Anything else you can replace. So be careful and put first your self and health.

Well Pea you are correct When you said you think that I would enjoy the second part. And I did very much so I am very sadad that Christine had to go through that, but you know what? It takes all kinds to make the big blue marble spin and we have no choice on a lot of them. But yes, Christine would be the ideal perfect mate because she's lovely. She has a great heart meaning with love and such very attractive. As you are, but it's a shame that sometimes people are self-centered and selfish. And when you meet a beautiful person, you're not supposed to be that way you know.. The character of a person is more important than his or her nationality. This guy was the very definition of selfishness. He lost what it could be have been a loving and fulfilling relationship. Relationships comes with compromises. I'm an atheist but my two significant relationships were with catholic women. Guess what? From time to time I went to church with them. That is just a small example. Very likely they participated in activities they didn't like jut to spend time with me. I hope she finds a good man that loves her genuinely.
