Diarmuid Ua Duibhne is one of the more obscure characters used in Zero for a servant, so don't feel bad about having no idea who he is. He's a hero from Irish Mythology whose story is tied to that of Fionn mac Cumhail, probably the second most notable Irish mythological hero after Cu Chulain. The spears and their effects are straight from his legend so Urobuchi definitely did his research while writing the light novel. Interestingly he also has two swords named in his legend that likely could qualifiy as noble phantasms as well.

4:03 I get what you mean. You 100% right about being in a war zone and how she feels out of place if you think about it from that perspective. Her attachment to an ancient mage family I guess sort of blurred out that angle from my mind and I didn't think about it. Rider is a common favorite in Fate/Zero. The dynamic between Iskander and Waver is really fun to see.

Assassin probably wouldn't stop Kiritsugu from sitting Archibald, but shooting would reveal Kiritsugu's position and as he said, he's not prepared for if assassin decides to attack him afterwards. Not really sure what's up with the minotaur in the ED. None of the servants have anything to do with the Greek minotaur.

The pictures on the cards for the classess doesn't hint at who the servants are its more so a generic image to depict the classes. The minotaur was born between the wife of king minos and a bull created by the god poseiden.

Something interesting to note that's glossed over in the anime is that a servant can qualify for multiple different classes. This is because a servant has different versions depending on the points in their life, and they can be summoned from any point in their life. For example, in the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh started off as an egotistical tyrant who was overall a massive asshole. However, after a certain event he goes on a quest to get the herb of immortality, but the herb gets eaten by a snake while Gilgamesh leaves on the ground to bathe in a lake (kind of the origin story for why snakes shed skin, which is why Tokiomi used the fossil of Mesopotamian snake skin as his catalyst). Gilgamesh simply laughs, now humbled, and returns as a benevolent ruler. Gilgamesh in Fate Zero is the Gilgamesh before he went on his quest. The servant has memories of their entire life, but if that version has not yet experienced it, the memories are more distant and they cannot comprehend their actions. With this, some servants can only qualify for one class, while others can qualify for all seven. In Lancer's legend, he also had two swords, so he could also be summoned as a Saber. On the other hand, Hassan can only be summoned as an Assassin given that he was essentially the origin of the word itself. There are some exceptions, such as Vlad the Impaler, who is mainly summoned as a Count Dracula, but if he's summoned in Romania where he was considered a hero, he's summoned as the real life historical figure. With him, it's more so based on how people perceive his legend rather than his life. There's also Jack the Ripper. You could summon Jack over a hundred times and it will be a different servant each time, because no one knows the serial killers true identity, and there's essentially a different version of him for every possible theory people have come up with. Point is, this adds an extra complication to trying to guess what servant is what heroic spirit. There's also the fact that "hero" is used loosely, meaning it could also include heroes fallen from grace, or villains that serve as cautionary tales. Sometimes just straight up incarnations of evil too, so really it's just any legend, heroic or otherwise.

The class pieces in the ED are general representations of the classes The berserker piece propably does indeed refer to the minotaur but that doesn't mean it's the current iteration of the class

In VN how CS are concealed and etc. was described - so short story we can see them only because of artistic choice when making anime. Both Grail and time spent in Throne give information on modern day and servants themselves so even if X was born before Y by knowing mean they would still get knowledge. Another silly thing here Assasin dies - everyone he definitely is dead , 2003 VN we killed this servant but x days after it - he did die right?should we check again. And you get introduced to weakest and dumbest lancer ever - even with FGO roster he’s still at the bottom, both gameplay , story and power scaling way. What happened here is Saber behaves OOC and is dumb - in original she would’ve been taunting him and then proceeded to oneshot him cuz gap is that big between them , so Zero is here’s Saber at her strongest….But she’s worse than when nerfed into dirt in original VN , and also suddenly way dumber.
