I grew up with food insecurity. School lunch programs were often my only meal of the day. My mom was a single mom, and sometimes it just happens. Had a bully in 4th grade who decided he wanted to have my dessert. He always had a packed lunch that looked amazing, plus he had already been mean (and violent) towards me before with zero consequences. I went full feral on him, prison conduct, first time he tried stealing my food. I was a model student, and it shocked the faculty, they had to pull me off of him. He never messed with me again, and we actually got along all the way throughout HS (He stopped being a little sh!t that day lmfao). I had to see a social worker, the principal, the works. My mother was mortified, but also strangely proud of me. After that, she always made sure I had an after-school snack, and if she had to work, she made sure there was some sort of meal available. Parents aren't perfect, and sometimes bullies gotta learn the hard way to respect boundaries.

I'm so sorry! Actually, when I was young, I used to go visit my relatives with my family for a few weeks per year. I used to save up whatever I could before going to these visits and buy extra food to eat behind my parents' back coz I didn’t like most of the foods they cooked and there wasn’t a lot of options. I also didn’t want to be yelled at, so kept the whole thing secret till today. Hopefully will never tell anyone. My sister used to go bug my mother for money. @julias.49808 күн бұрын
You weren't starving him. You did the best you could do and he probably was in, or about to hit, a growth spurt when children's appetites go parabolic rather suddenly. Most children seem to hardly eat anything most of the time, then suddenly they become living "food vacuums" eating everything in sight at some point during adolescence, sometimes bulking up into a chubby phase of "extra reserve" before growing taller - a bit like baby fat helps infants to grow quickly. On the flip side, I had an older friend that grew up being forced to eat man-sized portions of food as a young child because her Dad plated the food for her and her sister and they were not allowed to leave the table until they had finished it all. Sadly, the Mother was also on board with this nonsense. The parents were hard-working people who burned off what they ate and had grown up during the depression when food was scarce and you did NOT waste it and when chubby babies and children we're seen as "Healthy" (look at the OLD Campbell's Soup Children). The consequences of overriding the brain's natural Full Signal for so many critical years was her developing Type 2 Diabetes and both women struggling with obesity. This set her on a path to morbid obesity and a whole host of other health issues which eventually resulted in disability and a shortened lifespan. Not that she didn't have any self-responsibility but this was a complex situation. Once she became disabled, she could not exercise and, on top of that, years of misdiagnosis and improper medications caused her to further gain weight. It was a vicious (not viscous!) cycle. In a nutshell - sometimes less is better than more of something.
@sisteradvaisrael951010 күн бұрын
This is not about food! This is about bullying. My daughter was bullied when she was eight years old (She’s much older now). The little girl wouldn’t let her ride her bike in the neighborhood without harassing her. I found out about it when my daughter came home crying. The bully told her to go home and get some money and if she didn’t bring it back to her she would beat her. I respectfully went to the parent’s house, and talk to the girl in front of her mother asking her if she needed a job. At first the mother was perplexed until I explained the situation. The mother was highly embarrassed and told me that it would not happen again. Sometimes it works. These days unfortunately, not so much.

Some of us don't like her cause she pretends to be more than an actress. Like Jenn Lawrence or Scarlett or Emma Thompson, we know them for the roles in films, but we don't want to be lectured for what they think or suppose we have done. She would have been there without being pretty for first, so she can call Patriarchy whatever she wants. She's not more right than me for been an actress and famous, and stating that she is a feminist doesn't make her untouchable or infallible. She is a good actress because she represents the angry asshole that is always complaining and lying for everything around her, but maybe she's not representing anything and just being herself, like it can be seen in the interview for X-Men that she had with Chris Evans.

@@MizeryLuvsCupcakesI don't care for her "real-life" personality. I found her to be very unlikeable (as I have found many of the actors/actresses I have met over the years), with her also being very opinionated, which is ok but her opinions are rooted in many misconceptions and untruths. So, because of that, I don't really care for her as a person and she only seems to excel in characters that are much like her real-life persona and doesn't seem able to play any other characters with any sort of depth or accuracy. I have met her four times at different events since my wife is a former actress and her siblings are still actors. My wife's father just retired from being the biggest actor/director of the last 50 years making his final movie, "Juror No. 2" this past fall which will be released some time this summer. While I still dislike Bree Larson, she is nowhere as bad as Seth Rogan who I have deemed the most obnoxious A-Hole in not only Hollywood, but the entire Planet LOL.

@thomasjoseph5876 May I suggest you read the book then? Remove Bree from the equation entirely. It would be a shame to miss a good story. My daughter is a scientist and she is the one who suggested the series to me. I, in turn, bought her the book. The actress is not a crucial part in the experience... the story is. But also... Rude, entitled, selfish people suck, no matter what they do for a living. It's really not that hard to be kind and it costs absolutely nothing! I hope you have a beautiful day, and I do hope you give the book a chance!

My son didn’t eat school lunches so when we received a bill for them I asked him what was going on. He told me he got one once to try it and didn’t like it so he offered it to his friends. One of them really devoured it and that concerned him because the boy was “really small” so a couple of days a week he gets the lunch, says he doesn’t like it, and then offers it to that kid. I told to go right on doing that and happily paid the bill the rest of the year.

I was thinking bullying. I had a 3rd grade teacher always tell us that they’d eat our lunch in the 4th grade, we better watch out. But I was always on free and reduced lunch. Not even I wanted to eat that shit 😅

From reading other comments, the girls parents got divorced and the dad was letting things slip through the cracks so the woman’s daughter is her friend and has been sharing her lunch with her

I saw the TV series then read the book for book club. I like the book better in some parts and the show better in some parts but either way, I LOVE the story!

When i was in school kids would stick there finger in your food when asking are you going to eat that. Not much makes me loose it than someone messing with my food. It is like prison you have to let them know that you won't be f with.

His daughter was stealing food? Dang, life can go downhill fast when you give up running your own comic book store. Did Doc Oct teach her to do that?
