To be fair, most of these dramas portray the entirety of Chinese society is being completely morally bankrupt and unethical. I watched a drama earlier today where in the first 30 minutes a woman is raped and never goes to the police. Of course, her children are kidnapped and she is left in a building to die of arson, she doesn’t go to the police; She returns and her parents kidnap her children and sell her to another man to rape, and of course she still doesn’t go to the police; literally not one person gets in trouble for murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, rape, or any other of the thousands of illegal things that they do. Also, most of the time the rest of society just stand there, looking as if this is completely acceptable and normal behavior.

OK, I think I will give my 2 cents worth here. Maybe I am old fashioned BUT (if I have to take this movie seriously) yeah he chose the FL2 to be saved. However, remember though he was not aware that his wife was the other girl and (as per usual in these dramas) according to what he knew FL2 had 'saved' him!! Secondly, even after 6 years she still had feelings for him and, the way I saw it, he had feelings for her. The children loved both parents and ML1 and FL1 realised how much they cared for each other, and in reality always had, sooooooo me being who I am would accept living with the man I love and completing the family with our four children ..... I think it takes a stronger woman to forgive than to go off in a huff with pride up their a$$ and have the whole family hurting !!!! just my 2 cents worth. And an actual reception arc for the person who spent most of the drama causing the hurt and humiliation of the other person (Ie; This arrogant AH thought he could just divorce his wife with no consequences? And then judge her for supposedly “getting you her with another man” when HE himself divorced her in order to be with another woman?! Hypocrite! It doesn’t matter who he “chose” to save. A) It was never HIS choice to make. Who died and made him in charge of who lives or dies?! What incredible arrogance! And to not even bother to see if the second person could be saved (or at least their dead body collected for the family) is an additional slight. He kept his power and wealth and status and never really apologized or humbled himself to admit his mistakes) , they didn’t even bother to show him begging for forgiveness, apologizing, showing true remorse, or working at all to atone. All he learned from this is he can behave as horribly as he wants, and she should take him back because this is what’s “best for the family”. He had no character arc or growth. I am all for a story where the male lead is an AH but actually has to work to become a better person and learn to respect and value his wife before earning back a second chance. (Not demanding or expecting a second chance-earning it!). Why is it always best for the family for the woman to give in and to go back to an abusive and neglectful situation? Why couldn’t they bother to write him an actual redemption arc where he he has to work to earn back her trust and her respect? Oh yeah, it’s because the writers of these stories are complete misogynist to refuse to give women any dignity or self-respect. Otherwise we would also have a bunch of stories where the male lead is abused and emotionally tortured by the female lead and then has to forgive her and take her back for a “happy ending”. Don’t forget that he was also a terrible father! He allowed his daughter to be viciously abused right under his nose by the evil mistress that he divorced his wife for! For years she was pinching her and slapping her and any father who actually raised and cared about his children would have noticed the bruises and other marks! He doesn’t notice until the very end and only AFTER he is shown the video of his daughter being abused. This man never changed as a person. He didn’t believe his (ex) wife ever. Didn’t trust her. I believe this drama is a very old one, since there are too many nonsense played here and a non compliment in woman's roles. A ridiculous mom who can't recognize her own children, a stupid one to bring them to party when they need to be hidden., etc etc.. Not a very good one for sure.

what does a savior have to do with your personal life? i've seen a lot of short chinese dramas with this plot. a wife is a wife, a person who saved your life is just that. whats so confusing about it that someone is willing to compensate to the point of replacing their wedded half? in any other country you'd go to, you wont find a situation like this in real life. unless the man really has feelings for the savior other than his wife which is what you call "cheating". in plots like this, a fl (wife) who chooses to forgive and go back to the ml (husband) only shows stupidity. its not even a happy ending, this choice only shows how a woman specially with kids does not have enough self respect and pride. just imagine a father entrusting his children to someone else and not knowing how they are being treated for 6yrs. and yet you get back with him? truly disappointing.
