Welcome to Kuala Lumpur! ❤ Just to share, ‘halal’ in Malaysia means clean, safe & permissible. Water & fruits considered as halal because it’s safe to consume. But halal procedure for farm animals is different where the animal must be slaught3red according to specific way.

Thank you for being considerate towards Muslims. About the food cooking event, if possible I would like to recommend you to cooperate with other Korean Muslim content creator as they can give you a proper information/guidance on cooking Korean food for Muslims. Don't just think, ask us(Muslim). Also, you can still invite Malaysia Chinese, India or Sabahan or Sarawakian first. Later on maybe Malay for food event. I wish you both to have a wonderful holiday. 😃

You are generous to want to share Korean food with Malaysians. Perhaps it's the editing that might have created some misunderstanding in me but for me, I haven't heard of Christians in Malaysia who cannot use halal ingredients in order to serve their Muslim friends. I hope how Malaysian Christians are seen is not affected by the explanation in the video.

Malaysia can be very Asianised ,westernised and orientalised so you concern of halal food does not apply as long as you don’t serve food to Muslim . Conversely you can eat halal food same as kosher food to Christian .

Should not be an issue for Christian to eat halal food. At least as far as I know. I am sure that is the case based on local Malaysian Christian. They eat halal food too. For info, halal mainly means permissible.. For meat.. the slaughter is done in a specific way, contain no alcohol or pork. For example, fruits and vegetables are halal. 😊 There are halal korean restaurants around KL. Not sure if it is up to your standard though. Haha.

Muslim can eat korean food as long as it’s halal(no pork etc) vegetables fruits fish r halal..kimchi is halal..i think muslim can eat almost any korean food except pork n soju/alcoholic drinks
@zill80216 сағат бұрын
I would like to challenge that. All fermented food including kimchi contains a small percentage of alcohol. Yes, small enough till you cannot recognise it. So, does it still fall into classification as non-alcohol?

You didn't get my point. If we were to cook for Malay people who are mostly Muslim, we'll have to use halal certified ingredients. Of course if we can find non Muslim who's open to any ingredients, we'd have done it.

Hello there and love yall journeys. But i have to point how your phrasing of opinions on "halal" can be problematic especially for those who wont research after the fact. The halal certification is to protect our muslim brothers & sisters here so that they are consuming foods that are in line with their core beliefs. And halal certified food items can be consumed by all regardless of religion. We also have our own FDA like bodies that check on the safety of the foods we consume. The food itself might not seem to others as non halal but its the ingredients certain companies produce might be and need to be screened. So herr foods are screened by 2 separate bodies one who ensure its health and safety and another to ensure it does not go against Islam which in a way exercise our freedom of religion. For example, how certain eggs in the US have labels of things like cruelty free, free range etc to inform the methods of breeding chickens. So its pretty much like that. That a company that chooses to market to the mass population actually uses the materials that abide by the criterias that will approve it to be safe to be sold to Muslims. More importantly the food labelled non halal are still marketed for consumers cos Malaysia is not build alone on its Muslim majorities. If you dont hv halal certification we cant protect the interests of our brothers and sisters as this assurance not only ensure they are consuming food that are aligned with Islam but the non Muslims serving foods that are safe to be consumed by our Muslim friends. The food itself does not equate halal but its together with the companies practices and raw materials used. So if u go to supermarkets there are non halal sections in which you can educate yourself on which certain food are not aligned with Islamic beliefs. And these sections are usually very small. It shows we have more things in common than what we are inclined to believe cos of our differences. In Islam there are certain things which they consider not abiding by Islamic virtues. That's why our country have Islamic laws but also still practice common laws. Not so we can separate halal and non halal food but so we all can eat together without worries of offending anyone's beliefs. Rhetorics/narratives if unverified can be very misleading especially if it an individualised view. Im so sorry. I dont mean to offend. Im so happy you guys are just celebrating life as it should be. I just feel uneasy if I did not say anything cos someone might push this opinion to its most extreme definition as become misinformed. When all we want to is live together and be chill.
