Got crushed by this yesterday. A few months ago we started talking, immediately she said to me she wanted out of her 10 year relationship because it was horrible. She ended it. I kept asking her out but she said she needed to work out her own stuff, which I understood. But I told my friends who told me to be patient with her: Every time this happens, the next time you see her she's already got a new guy despite saying they were done with men for a while. Every time. Sure enough, we met for dinner yesterday and she basically told me all about the new guy she's dating, although 'she only wants to fuck him', as she said. I felt as if I was her friend who she gossiped about guys with, shit sucked. I knew this shit happens every single time in those cases but I was hopeful. I over-pursued precisely because of that, other times I've let them be alone to work out their stuff, and BECAUSE I let them be, they always wound up finding a new guy. Yeah guys, it's true. Whenever you don't give girls the time of day, it drives them crazy. There are a couple other girls who I started to ignore because I had made up my mind about this girl. As soon as I started to distance myself from these girls, they were a lot more interested. Rejection is like an aphrodisiac for them.

This happened to me once when I was still a teenager. I met the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She was so beautiful that I fell in love on first sight. For a whole week I sent her texts and she did not reply or did so in an uninterested way. One day during a party, we were both drunk. I saw her standing just in front of me, looking me at the eyes. I approached her. And we started making out. I felt like I finally had found my soullmate, it was the best moment in my life. But the next day, I went to a different party, again. And I saw her with another guy. They were holding hands, she was whispering to his ears, and doing things that she never did to me.Eventhough we had kissed we never developed a connection like the one I was seeing there. She really liked him. But she never liked me. And I understood this. There was nothing I could do, I just spent the whole night drinking with my friends and seeing them interact as a loving couple. After that I left and I never talked to her again. The truth is, you should never pursue someone unless that person also pursues you. You should never put all your eggs in the same basket without even having a guarantee. People are either attracted to you or not, and you can notice that by their actions. And you cannot really do anything to change it, if a girl does not like you there is nothing you can do. So don't waste your time with people who don't feel the same way about you as you feel about them. Life is too short. Liking a person won't make that person obliged to like you back. Even if you feel that she is perfect for you, she also has her own mind and she might not feel the same way. Don't let your emotions take over, and instead be observant. Look, see the signals. That's all. Love is a game that requires both parties to feel the same way. If it's not reciprocal, it's not love.

The only thing I'd add is that even if she is totally into you and doesn't even look at other guys, every girl is capable of losing all interest and attraction for you instantly if she meets another guy who gives her butterflies. Getting dumped always feels bad. Usually there are signs tho, they don't go from being all over you to dumping you the next day, it's a process of her getting distant, less affectionate etc. You have to be able to recognize that and try to get things back on course by doing what Corey teaches. Either it works or it doesn't, when it doesn't you should dump her and move on anyway because her interest dropped below salvagable levels. If she dumps you it usually means you already stuck around for too long while she was treating you like a 2nd class citizen.

In the book Corey says pay attention to how she's giving out her number to you. She wasn't hesitant at all. She was all smiles and was shocked that I asked her for it. As she was writing her number down, I seen she had a big smile on her face. Before all of that I got a haircut after it was getting long. She told me that I looked handsome and that she liked my dark features. So I took it as a sign that she was somewhat into me. I think what did me in was that while I was getting her number, she told me that I should go to the bar that she goes to sometime. I told her that I wanted her all to myself BECAUSE the fact that she goes with the people she knows. So I tried to make a date on the spot and she told me she was going to be busy. So I said great, get back to me when you're free and we can do something. So I sent her a text so that way she would have my number that said, "This is X from Y give me a call when your available and we can do something fun". But I think I might've scared her off or she really wasn't into me in the first place because I texted her too soon and took the word fun way out of context. I really wasn't being direct and clear what I meant about the word fun. I'm really new at this stuff and I want to get better.
