I almost went over the bars yesterday at Santos, FL USA. I was at the Vortex on the small jumps, when I was leaving, I pedaled down (not fast enough) and climbed a wooden "bridge" feature that's at the base... I had not been on my MTB 5 years and 50 pounds ago. Now, there are two options to get off it, one to the left one to the right. As it turns out, I took left, without enough speed but fast enough to not be able to brake and stop in time before the ledge on the left. I pulled the bars H A R D back and landed on my front wheel, BARELY enough to roll and not crash. Committing is a big part of any jump. One thing, she was not pressured, she was encouraged. Of all things, Sam told her to do a run-up and offered professional advice.

Some will say slow the rebound on the rear shock but to me that doesn't fix the underlying problem which is the technique. don't let you weight shift back, stay centered on the bike and push the fork into the lip then pull the bars closer to your chest as you take off. It's not like a bunnyhop where you have to lean back to get the front end up, the jump will lift the front end with no effort, so the bars will naturally come up to your chest if you allow them to. if you try to do it like a bunnyhop the rear suspension will compress too much and throw you forward. when you pull the bars up to your chest it will bring your weight forward and get you more over the front wheel. You can see in the video she extends her arms as soon as she went off the lip, if she had pulled them closer to her it would have been much more controlled

Hello Sam. You've replied to one or two of my positive comments in the past. That's not to convey I expect a reply to this one; it's merely to add context to what I'm writing. I want to sincerely-and-genuinely thank you, your family, your entire circle and everyone around you; for being such a positive force of inspiration. I am autistic and disabled. Still, I adore sports that intertwine with nature; which is my first love. I usually have a really difficult time conveying my intent through words. I've grown a lot recently, in the last few weeks. I chalk part of that up to your positive energy here. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'll never be able to write it enough or convey it properly. You helped me so much, inadvertent-Bodhisattva.
