I thought Captain Marvel was just ok myself, the overreaction people have was astounding. Same with Lightyear, which I thought was a good movie....Elektra was garbage though.

As a She Hulk fan who has read the comics I actually think Jessica Gao and this show have a reverence for the source material unrivalled in the MCU. Despite what other critics say I genuinely believe Gao LOVED She Hulk. Yet it still profoundly misses the mark on capturing the character and the feel of the specific material they tried to adapt. I think this is due to various factors including adhering to MCU canon which so fundamentally altered Hulk that Jen's story would be affected. The budget also wasn't enough which Tatiana Maslany and Jessica Gao have admitted made them rewrite some scenes replacing Shulkie with Jen including the entire finale which would have had more action. There is also the translation from comic to screen which would be very difficult for the material they are adaprinf which makes full use of the comic book medium. Last the culture and narrative that builds around female led properties and the writers personal experiences were intergrated into the narrative in a big way. I think all these things hurt their efforts to adapt the character and comic despite loving the material

If you don't know that much about the character, then how do you know the MCU version of She-Hulk is a bad take on the character?
