This battle is so conceptually underrated. There's essentially 5 different sides each with their own motivations bundled up in this mess. 1. Armin, Mikasa and co. fighting on the side of Eldians, solely just to defend Eren and prevent him from dying 2. Yelena, Zeke and the Jaegerists fighting on the side of Eldians, fighting for their plan of euthanasia 3. Eren, fighting on the side of Eldians fighting for... his own... motives 4. Magath and the Marleyan military, fighting on the side of Marley to retrieve the founding titan and ultimately empower Marley 5. Pieck, Reiner, and the Marleyan Eldians fighting on the side of Marley, fighting for their rights as Eldians in Marley but not necessarily trusting Marley either And Isayama somehow made it all make sense in one giant battle. They all coexist without necessarily being allied/having the same goals with each other. Just ridiculous storytelling.

I think most people miss the fact that pieck was telling the truth when she rescued gabi. She shared her true feelings about the eldian situation in marley but most people seemed to think this was a lie to convince eren she had switched sides.

i dont think the jaegerists are on board with the euthanasia plan in fact i dont think they even knew about it at all. it doesn't align with what they have been fighting for. i would say floch and the jeagerists are a separate side too

They're right though, she's so smart! The scene here, for sure, but also getting herself and Porco out of the trap during the Liberio operation, leading Eren to Porco while rescuing Gabi, saving Zeke from Levi, and saving Reiner from the Scouts. She's a genius!

Gah, I love Zeke. Dude is smarter than almost everyone, is a scarier and more effective titan than reasonable, loves his brother, and... yeah, he's done the worst shit but he's also gone through the worst shit. Fascinating character.

Sadly his closure at the end felt a bit rushed imo. Would've loved to see more closure for his character than what he had, because that scene just happens for a second and that's it. It gives a lot of closure for the other character but Zeke I feel like deserves at least one more scene about him and his ending at least

@@Kreze202 I can see where you're coming from, but personally I think that his closure feeling rushed is simply a fault of the anime medium. I'm not saying it was adapted poorly or anything, but with the way anime works, that scene was bound to be "quick" regardless of how they adapted it, because of how it was written in the manga. When I read it in the manga though, I loved it. It was definitely one of my favorite scenes from the battle. I think 'cause manga allows you to read at your own pace, I was allowed to let it linger a bit longer and really take it in. All this to say that I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, but I definitely think that the scene was great in the manga at least, & I can see how the format of the anime can potentially "dampen" the scene. Edit: (Spoilers for the finale) He also had a scene with Armin in the paths, so there's that for closure as well.

@@exposureeee I actually have no problem with the scene itself, it just felt like there should've been a scene afterwards where they acknowledge that "Hey, that happened to Zeke!". They resolved the conflict of his character with the scene you mentioned, but they didn't give him closure. I feel like for a character as important as Zeke was, he deserves some sort of acknowledgement in regards to his story.

@@Kreze202 Yeah, I agree with this. I guess the only rational explanation for that is that our main cast (except Annie, Pieck & Reiner) didn't really know Zeke as a person, unlike the trio that betrayed them in the earlier seasons. They really only knew him as the guy who killed Erwin, allied with them breifly, betrayed them & killed a bunch of scouts, and helped Eren start the rumbling. So it kinda makes sense as to why they just killed him and left it at that. There wouldn't be much for them to talk about pertaining to him after the fact.

I was waiting for your reaction to Yelena’s face lol Yelena realized Armin was fake crying inside the prison cell when she told them her vision of Zeke and Eren saving the world. Armin shed tears and said “what a noble cause” but now he said “we don’t have a choice” that is why Yelena makes that face at Armin.

One of the essential things for Falco way of thinking as well is that his core motif is to save Gabi, so it wasn't hate driven, that was his basis, which he didn't lost, but Gabi lost her motif, but it was replaced by Falco love there, then she got motivated back again even though she was very frustrated by her realization, so Falco helped there confessing, unintentionally, because he wanted to say it before it was too long. Which she might or might not lost as well, I'm sure in patreon you guys already seen what comes in the next episodes, so let's see if Gabi can keep motivated or not depending on what happens till the end :)

Falco never bought into Marley's brainwashing BS, he knew the situation was fucked one way or the other. He's also capable of seeing the big picture without letting his anger blind him. Even back in Liberio, when Gabi was going "why is this happening", Falco just answered "Because they were trampled. This is their revenge". He also sort of understood what was going on in Reiner's head at the time. Falco has what so many people lack, self awareness and introspection. It allows him to see the world objectively (or as close objectively as a person can see it). He also doesn't define himself by what other people tell him, he has his own sense of self.

It's way more than that. They both wanted to save the world, they both will bring suffering for the sake of what they believe in, they both sympathize with the other side but have selfish desires that ultimately brings suffering to the other side, they both just want the pain of the consequences of their selfish desires to end.

And since the dawn of time, humanity has been fighting itself for imaginary concepts just cause we have the ability to grow different from each other, so we just can't get along.

I feel like the show's message goes further than that. It's a story about human desire, how people love, and ultimately how people hate. We hate because we love. Hate comes from something happening to what we love. Humanity doesn't merely fight itself because we're inherently different and we fight for imaginary concepts, but we fight because we hate, and we hate because we love. It's our human nature to love, and therefore it's our human nature to hate. Thus, conflict is in our nature. The way out is to recognize the cycle of love and hate and break that cycle, but it's easier said than done. We have desires, and our desire is what prevents us from thinking rationally to break this cycle. Ultimately, letting go of our selfish desires is the true way out. This is the true message of the ending.

The music in Attack on Titan is incredible. As far as conveying very specific emotions, or mixed emotions, AoT nails it. I know you guys are already ahead of this, but I hope when you watched the next few episodes that you definitely had the notes ready. I'm just anxious that these are one episode at a time.
