Glad you are back on the road. Here is something you may have already thought about, but if not, since you are dealing with sleeping in the winter, buy an 12 volt electric blanket, for some extra warmth. I have a friend that bought one for emergencies when traveling on the road for work during cold weather in case he would break down, plugs into a cigarette outlet. He was worried about draining the battery with really cold weather but it hasn't been an issue, but just to be safe, he bought one of those jump starters that has outlets, air pump, USB ports, and such and just plugs it into that. Since then he got some 12 volt items like a coffee pot, a little heater/defroster fan and a couple other things. He has actually ended up sleeping in his vehicle some to save on motel rooms while on the road, says his per diem ends up going into savings, so worked out fine for him. Just a thought. Really enjoying your adventures, oh to be young again.

That was super awesome of the shop to take some footage of the rebuild for you. I never appreciated how hard it was to make these videos until i started trying and let me say its incredible that you have the creative foresight to get all those shots at the beginning to make the rest of the video possible. Its like you planned this weeks in advance but i know it doesnt always work that way you probably just got good coverage and held on to the footage and made it fit. If i were vlogging consistently like you i probably wouldve used that footage already but nooooo you held on to it for this video. On top of everything else you are juggling and dealing with. Jake, it is great to see that Jade is on the road again. No question, it is a quality rebuild with the best gaskets that you can get. Just to comment on a point of interest, Angelo is quite right about the oil. I worked with a former Chrysler engineer and he had told me that the 4 litre does need a thicker oil. 15w40 is great and has higher ZDDP levels, which is what your engine needs. I would suggest that you never run an oil lighter than 10w30, but stick with a thicker oil and a quality oil filter. Plate C

Jake I noticed in previous post you mentioned switching to a soft top from best top soon. Are you concerned from a security standpoint? I would think for your journeys and travels that the hard top is a way better fit.

Bittersweet, as you now get back to Jade and the road trip, but you have to leave the love nest. LDRs can work. I believe in you both! Also, make sure that you follow ALL of the recommendations of the break in period. I've had a number of new cars, and that is EXTREMELY important for the long term success of the engine. Don't forget to make crock pot meals! It's cold enough that it should be a great way for hearty meals! PS. I'd be honored if you would sub to my channel. I've finally gotten it off the ground! Hey Jake, I didn't realize your engine was a renix or I'd of mentioned this sooner. There's this dude on KZbin/Facebook that goes by the name Nickintimefilms who designed and sells renix engine monitors. Considering you just rebuilt the engine it might be a good idea to look into one of his REM units so you can see exactally what's going on with your new motor. Tons of footage on his KZbin of the units/his XJ build, check it out!
