Jake, I was looking at all of that available space under the roof deck. You could see about having a heavy duty canvas bag made for the MaxTrax to go inside of. Strap this bag to the underside of your roof to clear up some space on the rear of the Jeep.

Moving water isn't any cleaner than stagnant water - it all depends on what's up-stream. Best would be a real spring so you could get to the water before animals start crapping in it. Well, guess you boil it long enough for most pathogens to be killed. BTW: holding the spout down-stream when filling up keeps floaters out.

Potential issue with the tracks, in the video it seems to hang below the back bumper and might give you some clearance issues when going up/down slopes. Were you able to recover any of the gear from the roof? Good luck on the future.
