Go to the community meetings. I will never forget attending a meeting about infrastructure work that was going to happen on my block. Other than the presenter, I was the only black person. I learned so much and folks were asking questions I didn't think to ask. From that meeting, I got to know my neighbors too.😊

In some cities detached assesory dwellings are not permitted on the premises. This is mainly because of zoning laws in some communities. They used to be called Mother in Law Houses or Guest Houses. But if there already is an existing one on the premises it’s grandfathered in and can be used as a an assessory dwelling. Congratulations to this savvy young lady, she’s Killing It!🏘️💰

Going to the community board meetings are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! Make it your priority to show up and participate! Too many black people don't make it a priority to be informed of what's happening in their communities as far as meetings. Don't complain after decisions are being made structurally. Leave work early if you have to, to make the meetings treat them like the priority they are.

House hacking refers to a strategy where you generate rental income by utilizing part of your primary residence or property. If you want to house hack a tiny home in your backyard, here are steps to consider: Legal and Zoning Considerations: Research local regulations: Check the zoning and building codes in your area to determine if you can legally have a tiny home on your property and use it for rental purposes. Some jurisdictions have specific rules regarding accessory dwelling units (ADUs) or tiny homes. Obtain necessary permits: If your local regulations allow for tiny homes, you will likely need to acquire permits and approvals. Contact your local building department to learn about the application process and any requirements for electrical, plumbing, or other systems.

Good for her!! 👏🏾 With the housing crisis here in Los Angeles. I’ve been looking into building an ADU but the building cost is insanely high here. To build converting my detached garage, it’ll cost me between $200k and $300k. Which I’m so on the fence to build. Because it’s not gonna pay for itself for quite sometime. I needed to hear her talk about delayed gratification. Thank you for this episode. 🫶🏽

I was rocking with her until she said that someone was intimidated by her. No man is intimidated by no woman. I'd he knows a certain standard you live by, and he assesses that he can't meet that standard, does it mean that he is intimidated because he assessed that he couldn't meet the standard you set? As an example, I know someone who dated (and later married) a woman who was making over twice what he made. He wasn't intimidated by her. It didn't bother him or her. It's just 2 ways: Yes or no.

@tam6011 Some of the successes we hear in these interviews feature people who make very high incomes, and it makes sense that you can leverage that to create other income producing assets. In addition, an interview where a young professional was saving $6,000 a month, was making high 6 figures in her 20's to be able to save such a large amount. I mentioned all that to say this, it's unrelatable to me because to accomlish some of the extraordinary things these people have accomplished assumes I would need a high income. I like aspiring stories and all, don't get me wrong, but the practicality of these money moves are out of my pay grade. I already feel behind and don't want to be discouraged anymore than I am. That's all.
