I just went through dealing with a missing passport. My situation was all my fault. I had to wait for my Airbnb to be ready in Paris. I sat at a café and when I left, I left my bag with my passport in it on the terrace. It’s a horrible sinking feeling when you realize it’s gone. I had to get an emergency passport since my flight was four days away and this happened on a Thursday afternoon. I travel alone and luckily had my phone and a card holder with a couple of credit cards and cash in it. It’s not a fun situation but I’m happy you were in London where there is an American Embassy.

Body scanners are at some uk airports if you refuse them you get a pat down search, Istr there was a case where one airport said you refuse you don't fly. As to getting to Cornwall catch the sleeper? It's quite an experience to go to sleep in london and wake up in Devon / Cornwall.

Welcome back guys! Cornwall at this time of year is great but be warned the schools are now on summer vacation so it will be very very busy. Not sure if you have time but could I recommend coming up to Birmingham at least for a few days. So much history here in my part of the world plus the added bonus of Cadbury World (see them make all the chocolate plus buy at very reduced prices compared to the stores).

Welcome back to Albion...... Cornwall and the Penwith Peninsula in particular are beautiful. We go down there every year as the wife's sister lives in St Just which is only a few miles North of Lands End...... You must have a Warrens Cornish Pasty when you are down there and you must do the drive from Land's End to St Ives round the North Coast Road..... The views are just stunning!!
@CarWhiz227 жыл бұрын
So glad that you guys are coming to the west country! If you liked the north then you will love Cornwall. Make sure you have a proper cornish pasty, scones, and go on as many coastal walks as you can. Also the north coast is great for surfing if you're in to that sort of thing. Eden project also highly recommended. Hope you guys have brought rain coats as has been pretty rainy recently! Happy exploring.

Airlines don't accept photocopies of passports. I tried in March. You have to have a passport to exit and enter countries.
@Dan-yw9sg7 жыл бұрын
Jessica Amanda hey! Yes I know that they don't, but it makes it much easier to get a replacement passport from the foreign embassy if you have a copy of your passport along with your other documentation. It saved me a weeklong hassle in Thailand because I had proof!
@TheWanderingWife7 жыл бұрын
Jessica, you're right. I didn't mean to imply that they would, and thankfully, I've never lost mine, but I've always been told that if you do, having copies will help expedite its replacement.

London to Cornwall easy by train from Paddington. Heathrow express to Paddington 15 minutes but not cheap. Cheapest way to Cornwall is Coach.

@Theendlessadventure7 жыл бұрын
For real! We're definitely looking into TSa pre soon.
@MattNav7 жыл бұрын
Eric, Allison ! Word of advice ! Don"t get PreCheck outright. Get Global Entry because it will also give you TSA Pre for free. That way you get thru US Immigration in 60 secs flat for 5 years for just $100 Your Known Traveller number with GE is the same system as TSA Pre. I'm also tempted to get it but we Brits have to pay an additional £42 fee for a UK background check to get into the US GE application system :/

I know this is an old video, and I honestly did not look through all of the comments - so this may have already been discussed. I am an RN who also loves to travel and recently wondered, myself, about the safety of airport scanners. A typical Chest X-Ray exposes a person to approx 10 millirems of absorbed radiation, while an Abdominal CT Scan could expose a person to as much as 1,000 millirems. The new scanners they have at the airport can expose a person to 0.005-0.01 millirems of absorbed radiation per scan. Although, yes, the levels of total exposure build up over time (especially as often as you two travel) however, you are still severely under any dangerous dosing. Basically you would have to be scanned at the airport approximately 100,000 times to equal the same amount of radiation as one abdominal CT. Hope this helps ease your mind. Happy travels!!

I sympathise, Alison. I had my Passport stolen in Changi airport, on a trip back from Borneo to Aus. The airline was very antsy and did not want me to board. They eventually phoned the passport office in Canberra and put me on the phone to them. I answered a few security questions and the official said, “yeah, we think that you are you”, and approved me flying. The airline still wasn’t keen on me flying, until I pointed out, that if I went, I became Australia’s problem, but if I stayed, I became their problem. They let me board and I got through OK at the other end.
