Grandchildren are like kryptonite to grandparents. They are their achilles heel. The parents can be fully against a marriage but they almost never can be against grandchildren. Especially if they see them and hold them. Grandchildren are their pride and joy.

@@TaleiAK ahhh, sorry. a lot of the times the phrase “___ is one thing but ___ is another,” has a negative connotation. example being “drinking every once in a while is one thing, but drinking constantly is another.” i dunno if that makes sense. the phrasing just came off a bit judge-y.

my dad got married to my mom without telling his family. It wasnt like he didnt want to tell them but he was in a completely different country at the time and had no way of reaching them. I can see why the parents love Andy so much. He’s so down to earth and he shows them that he embraces and loves Korean culture so much that the parents 1) don’t have language barrier to communicate w Andy, 2) feel relatable to whatever they do together 3) feel comfortable to communicate with their grandchildren 4) can express their concerns and find solutions together 5) feel at ease that their daughter found a great man who contributes greatly to build family bond between grandparents and parents. Asian grandparents love to live with their grandchildren and children. The family bond is made with a lot more interaction, meetings frequency, family activities, etc…. Andy is a great example of how foreigner spouse should be to have a happy marriage. Andy and his wife really a great couple together.

@100guaranteedssr54 жыл бұрын
I think he made that joke just to point out the absurdity of their statements. That being said the joke completely went over their heads since they do not understand anything about Africa or the culture. I don’t think he had any ill intentions, and coming from Africa he probably heard alot of insensitive and rude comments too. But I can see why people may think its inappropriate and unnecessary to joke like that.

Asians ignore lots of history from other regions, they only focus on what they learn at school, unless they travel abroad and meet foreigners. Every human has African genes because first humans come from there, they just dont think environment and climate made different races to adapt different lands. As a Mexican, Mayans explain different kinds of humans and that we are from corn because there are different kind and colors and even though they didnt meet other races until Spain invaded their land, they knew there were other races in the world. Also Asians think lots of countries are the stereotypes of what they have watched on tv or cartoons. In my case, they thought we lived in desserts and had traditional clothing and no technology, many asked me where in the map was my country and I just told them “under United States” hahaha
