Katie opened for American Aquarium, twoish years ago. Walked into the venue with no idea who she was. I was less than 10 feet from the stage in a venue, not yet half full. She walked out onto that stage and changed my life. No lie. The best gift I've ever received from a stranger was BJ Barham introducing Katie to me. AA is easily one of my favorite bands, that night she owned the stage.

Side note, Katie gives me a little Jason Isbell vibes. She's incredible.
@deanroddey28819 ай бұрын
@@rmoultonrmoulton145The gotcha of course is that most folks don't look. and, of those that do, they are so thinned out. I see something really good and a week later I can't even remember who it was. The internet giveth and the internet taketh away. And of course digital cheater tools get more powerful all the time, blurring the lines between musical talent and editing talent. When the internet first came along so many people argued that the era of the labels and their 'plastic' artists would be over. But of course there's far more fakery now than ever. The same people who were making that argument were not long afterwards arguing with me that all that matters is the final product, because now they were the ones benefiting from that fakery to put out sounds that sound far better than they actually are. And, hey, Jimi Hendrix once overdubs, so how is that any different from editing, tuning, quantizing, copying and pasting, etc...?
