My point was that a lot of battles in BDSP are far harder than the average Pokemon games, and dare I say that the post-game boss and mini-boss battles are even harder than the battles of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, especially if you are not overlevelled and not continuously spamming healing items. Let's begin with Elite 4 and Champion before post-game: Aaron has a scope lens sniper Drapion at max speed which means that his moves crit half the time with double damage and ignore your stat buffs. Bertha is largely Okay, but Flint is running a super-annoying Drifblim that I don't even need to evaluate. Lucian uses dual screens and trick room at the same time making things really tricky, especially if the brave nature huge power muscle band Medicham is supported by screens from Mr. Mime and trick room by Girafarig. Cynthia is running Garchomp and Lucario with dangerous sweeping potential, especially the former. And her Milotic may be the stupidest Pokemon in a main series game; a combination of Flame Orb and Marvel Scale along with a move that can burn you renders almost every physical attacker useless and makes playing around crits with that thing not even feasible, especially with Mirror Coat. And then the post-game..... Every gym leader is a challenge in himself but some are absolutely disgusting. Fantina utilizes a lot of status moves ( like trick on Banette to pass a heavy ball and Destiny Bond on Froslass ) and status inducing moves along with hex. Candice now has half her team abusing double team with snow cloak in hail. But the craziest is the battle against Crasher Wake, who leads with a drizzle Politoed with Perish Song to prevent Setup. Now, not only he has 4 Pokemon with swift swim, he has an extremely terrifying Wacan Berry + Dragon Dance Gyarados, who, because of its good special bulk and intimidate, can easily take atleast one hit and begin setup himself. And if you thought Gyarados was the only sweeping Pokemon in Wake's team, then you are wrong because he has a shell smash swift swim Huntail with a focus sash. This battle is no joke. There are a lot of similarly difficult battles like other rematches with rivals, Elite 4 and Champion, but I think I have made my point clear by now.

I did a nuzlocke of this game when it first came out and it was rough. It was a "blind" (I played Platinum before) nuzlocke and that Lucario was one of the biggest threats during that playthrough. I was simply not prepared for it and lost 5 mons to it. Afterwards cause I never bothered learning resistances I looked up what steel resists explaining a lot more and I felt that very much cause loosing 5 mons was entirely my fault. I could have just taken it down with my Torterra. I didn't play with level caps cause it was a blind run. Only to realize that all encounters I got afterwards were weak to ghost. I played with unnecessarily harsh encounter rules. So I barely had any options left and lost 5 mons again in the ghost gym. Somehow I made it to the E4 rushed through them except Bertha who I lost my Torterra to. And then lost the final fight against Cynthia. I already had that feeling of dread cause my Torterra was my morale booster. It was the one mon that survived both almost team wipes. It was incredible honestly and something I will never forget. BD/SP is certainly not the best game for your first nuzlocke but it is a fun one.

I just wanna say that pachirisu is surprisingly good. Pokemon worlds aside, (goodbye iron deluge, volt absorb, return but not frustration and pursuit, why gamefreak!) an amazing support. It's a budget, electric Blissey (not eviolite Chansey) Special tank with an ok defense stat and a surprising amount of support usage. Nuzzle and T-wave spread paralysis Super fang halves opponent's current hp. Charm drops atk 2 stages. It gets Rain dance and sunny day. It learns u-turn and Volt switch for pivoting. E-Terrain, Encore and Sub are really nice. Protect and light screen for defense. Dig for free escape rope. Rest, Sleep talk for memes. Mud slap for evasion memes. Thief fling meme. Pickup is absolutely broken in story for busted items just for walking around. (At high levels, got multiple stones and a few vitamins and 3 pp ups and 2 ppmax for some reason. It learns Giga Impact, Hyper Beam and gunk shot for a meme "sweeper". Honestly it ain't that bad, i'd wager to say better than Luxray (why does the squirrel stronger and tankier than a 3 stage Sphinx?). It won't be giving too many "kills" but it will be the reason your opponent's mons will be dead!
