psh heck no! went to one where the center pieces were homemade similar to this and they were so pretty, people were asking to take them home. the bride ended up giving them out with thank you cards to who wanted on, lol.

I don’t think there’s anything bad about it. The table decoration is just supposed to be visual. I haven’t been to many weddings but I remember that the one wedding I attended where they bride and her twin sister sourced or made a lot of things themselves, the flowers were sparse because they’d gone out of season. (They were live flowers in planters.) Plus, the wedding day was one of the hottest I’ve ever experienced in my life. I thought the bride’s sister was going to faint from heat stroke. So, what few flowers there were wilted. After the reception, people grabbed the planters and took them home without even a “by your leave”. I know it’s what people do these days but it just struck me as tacky. No one even asked if they could. Better a nice, artificial arrangement and people can keep their grubby mitts off them, afterwards.

​@@hammisanz2656 cousin in law did this! The kids (myself included lol) loved it! We got to take a memory home of our cousin getting married, and the hand made centerpieces though "cheap" were beautiful! I was heart broken when my brother's cat destroyed it years later, but my grandmother still has hers and pulls it out during family gatherings on occasion. Just because it's cost effective doesn't mean it detracts from beauty, quality, or meaning 🥰

That’s a good idea for a table centerpiece. I wouldn’t use it for Halloween but the basic pool noodle and glasses idea could be used for any holiday or occasion as long as the artificial flowers looked nice.

You do want to be careful with spider webbing! Wildlife rehab bees hate the stuff because of how many animals it causes injuries too every year.

A tip for the "candles" is to use a tiny ball of museum wax or museum gel on the bottom to stick them down and give them some support, while also being extremely easy to remove.
