I had a client with 1 green nail. I refused to put product on and told her to leave the nail product free for at least 3 months. She was grateful that I educated her on it, but upset that she had to leave without pretty nails. Never saw her again - I think she may have gone to someone else to have her nails done before the 3 months were over. Oh well, you can only inform, not in force.

@@Nailcou you can only try and hope they listen. I’ve never had greenies (probably because I do my own nails and I have all the kit) But I could never wait 2-6 months before I can put product on. I enjoy wearing nails and feeling elegant. So I kind of do understand why they would just do it any way. Love your channel 😊💜✨

When I was a waitress, my nails would often turn orange under my acrylics and I always thought it was just from working around food. But when one of the techs who didn't normally do my nails saw my hands he literally gasped and scolded the girls who were doing my nails regularly because they had been covering it up! I didn't know it was actual bacteria until he explained 😳 He refused to put more extensions on until the orange went away, which I was sad about, but grateful. A lot of salons are just looking to make the quick money, sadly.

Thank you for not putting any product on the greenies! I see so many people in both unprofessional and professional groups telling people it's okay. The ones who says it's not okay to put product on get several comments about how they are wrong and that greenies are completely harmless. Thank you for making this video!

YIKES and NO! Where are these people getting this information from?? It doesn't cause pain or other adverse effects at this stage but that doesn't mean it's harmless. This is an example of how *proper* nail technician education is important, nail techs don't need a whole ass microbiology class but you do need a basic understanding of pathogens and how they apply to your work.

I got greenies for the first time at the end of last month when I wanted to keep my xmas nails on just a bit longer. against my better judgement, I used nail glue to solve the issue 🤭 thankfully, it was only on one nail and has since disappeared. I'd also like to say, thank you, Anastasia, for explaining greenies and prevention so well. it was something I've already been taught, but your perspective on it was super informative and easy to follow. so much better than reading it our of a textbook

Pseudomonas was one of the many reasons that flowers weren’t allowed in the hospital I work at as it can grow in the water/ vases. The pollen can also trigger respiratory issues but the main reason was that stagnant water is a perfect environment for bacteria to grow. The sealed flowers wrapped In a self contained water bag are a lot better these days . It always bugged me when I’d see nail videos calling greenies ‘fungal’ infections cos that green/ blue tinge to the nails is almost always pseudo.

I have a happy Greenie story. I got them once from going WAY too long between fills and having a couple of severely lifted nails. My schedule just wouldn't allow for frequent fills. I I started doing my own nails when the tech explained why it happened Now that I can do it myself, the MOMENT I notice any sort of lifting, I fix it immediately. As a side effect, I found out that my tech was overfiling my nails and they're much stronger now and I don't have to use tips, I can simply do overlays. I used to get told that I couldn't grow out my natural nails, they were too thin. Turns out no. They were just overfiled. I followed the "bad" KZbin advise, and put an enhancement on the nails, but it didn't go bad, and I did monitor it very closely for any spreading. The infection was a bit higher up the nail plate and my nails grow very slowly, so it took almost 3 months to grow out completely. Near the very end by the time it had grown off, the green had faded quite a bit and looked almost like if nicotine stains were greenish. It was a moment of TRIUMPH when I finally clipped it off and my nails were all one healthy color again.

@StellaLilly I've been doing my own. I'm no pro tho, so that's probably part of my problem as well... lol I also was told that I have oily nails when I used to get my nails done. So every other fill in I had to get a new set. I stopped because it was just too expensive to get a new set of nails once a month. (My nails grow pretty quickly, but I bite them or rip them off when I get nervous/anxious/bored)

I’ve had greenies a few times before since I’ve had acrylic extensions for 22 years with very few breaks. Techs have always just cleaned my nail up and redid the acrylic. I guess I’m lucky nothing ever came from it. It would eventually just grow off and I was fine. I haven’t had greenies in a long time now but I do occasionally glue nails back down until I can get to the salon. I’m a horrible nail biter (to the point where I bite down the sides of the nails even) so it’s best to keep my nails covered.

I’ve had this before and somehow got it again in the last week on my thumb all the way close to the cuticle of my nail. My nails are so thin I cannot live without a hard gel overtop. They physically hurt and bend when I do anything. I had made them as short as my hyponicium allows but how do I handle this if I MUST apply gel overtop for strength. Right now I have clear base gel in a thick layer on my nail. Will this make it spread?

really good and informative video! i'd like to add something to what you said near the end: why using a CLEAR nail paint when you could use colour to hide the damage and te rest of the colouring in the nail? BECAUSE YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO SEE HOW IT PROGRESS!!! if you paint it black and you remove the paint next week, you would notice you are having a problem after letting it fester for one more week! if you are having a medical issue, PLEASE, leave aside the "beauty" part of your life as much as it's needed. it's so much more important to have healthy nails than pretty ones, and once they are healthy again, you can do whatever you want to them once again

I'm lucky I know how to do my own nails so that as soon as I sense lifting or that something is wrong, I can remove the product and fix any issues. I tend to keep a layer of hard gel on my nails under the other gels, acrylics, and polishes so that I rarely get down to the bare nail, and I do maintenance on my sidewalls and cuticles and edges every couple of days to catch lifting. My boyfriend thinks it's funny that I am always working on them even though they are not very long, and I said it's important to me to keep them in good condition because I work with my hands so they need to be healthy.

I still haven’t used anything on my nails, I am just trying to get my nails healthy, I did dry press ons once, with acrylic to adhere them to see if the acrylic would bother me and I had no issues, so when I am ready, I will probably switch to acrylic.

This is why I always advise against wearing nail glue for more than 1 day 🙈 it’s also why it’s not good to have air bubbles in gel

I developed a condition like this but it was because of poor nail care when I went to my usual nail shop I eventually stopped going when I tried to address it and my nail tech snapped at me

part of the problem too is people are not educated on removing their own nails in case of emergencies nor do they learn I saw that during the pandemic when everything closed if you are engaging in a service but cannot consistently get that service you ask you nail tech the proper way to remove the nails instead of being upset when you do crazy stuff like super glue on your nails and can’t get them done again

Wow that makes sense, the super glue damages the nail... however doctors use that for putting things back together..that stuff burned the skin around the nail...thanks for posting this it helps people learn what kind of damage can be caused, you can't avoid infections either I won't take any risk with sepsis or MRSA.

@@samanthanicholson9015 of course in emergencies you can but it’s definitely not the best solution because overall it’s not healthy for your skin or nails long term

@@ominouscherub I mentioned that. I understand with a loss if a finger it's not I wouldn't ever add glue, just that's how the doctor put my finger back together....sorry for the gross out. Hopefully now my nail will grow out whole enough so I can start to polish my nails, bright now it grows back split on the side. Have you heard about anyone using monomer with a dip powder? I wanted to try the acrylic but don't want to use the activator, isn't that a glue as well?

Hi Anastasia! I might be late to this video, but I’m in need of help! i tried polygel yesterday, and had to remove it twice and try again. I’m using dual forms, but every time I pop a dual form off, it’s always see through, thin and flexible on where my natural nail would be on my sidewall. If I fill the dual form anymore, it will overflow. Inside the dual form, product doesn’t look thin where the sidewalls are. It’s only after I cure and take the form off. if anyone knows why this is happening I would love to know 😊

You are probably using a nail form that's too small. You'll get a better result if you go up 1 size and use a file to clean up the side walls.

Polygel or most gels tend to downsize or shrink after curing with a UV Lamp, so I suggest to go up one size on the dual forms and file it off on the size, use a little bit more product to see if that helps, every nail if different, just practice and you'll get there!😊

@@alessaSucre thanks! I did use a slightly bigger nail form, but I think it’s also the fact I need to get a little more practice as well😂

You could be pressing it down too hard. Some people have downward growing nails, so people push it down so the gel is adhered all the way to the tip of whatever free edge you have, but because of the downward edge it's actually too low. Or maybe a dual form with a higher arch might be better for your nails.

Go for a bigger form, if you're just practicing go for one that is much too big so you can file down to the thickness you want! 😉

I don't see anyone sanitizing the e-nail material so maybe the bacteria is on that or the file, sanitizing hands helps but it's sad that this happened in the first place... touching the glue tip onto a dirty nail also incorporated bacteria hopefully this won't ever happen to anyone else.
