It shows The Major rejecting the blood in the original Hellsing Ultimate anime and Hellsing manga, if I remember correctly. XD Forgive me, it's been a while since I've seen and read both. Plus the Author created prequel chapters showing young Walter and Girl Alucard 50 years ago while they were destroying Millennium the first time, "Hellsing: The Dawn".

Couple things to note about this. 1: I that bit about calling heads is actually true that plan with Schrodinger had a 50-50 shot. 2: They do actually explain why the major was a cyborg, the major could not be turned into a vampire because he absolutely refused to compromise his humanity and his immortal soul, so the doctor had to get creative to save his life. 3: as to why the cyborg reveal was actually important, throughout the show alucard has stated that he refused to be killed by a monster and wish to be killed by a human, that's why he was so distraught when Anderson gave up his humanity to try to kill him, and the major even seems to agree with the statement in his final speech by stating he was a man with trappings of a monster while alucard was a monster with a trappings of a man, and that his soul called for his elimination.

Fun fact: The mayor really is one of the classical mastermind villains. Alone, on his own he is utterly unremarkable. Hell, he would even be dead already without Herr Doktor. He was just good at organizing people and leading them as well as coming up with a plan that could concievably kill the unkillable Alucard. It is probably best shown in the little funny scenes where he is shown to be the worst shot amongst all the show's characters by far, a fact his underlings did remind him often on in jest. That's why the last scene in the OVA is kinda adorable since the last shot he makes on Integra actually hits and he goes "Oh, I actually hit something." ...so he probably didn't even expect himself to be able to injure Integra.

Schrödinger's powers works as long as he can recognize himself, so when Schrödinger was consumed by alucard, he could no longer recognize himself among the 3million souls inside alucard, so neither could alucard. that failure caused alucard to disappear

That was the original idea i think, and they switched it in the Abridged to "as long as he remains unobserved", to double down on the reference and to make the Major just that more badass with the 50/50 guess. The original plan was a certainty from start to finish.

The cyborg thing is actually explained. The mayor got the same "offer" that Dracula did when he was dying back in WWII. But, being the firm adherent of human-supremacy he was he found the idea of being turned into something inhuman repulsive and rejected it. Ironically he had to turn to technology so much to keep his mission going that eventually most of his flesh and blood was already replaced by "prostethics". But in a way, he has a point. He is still human, same way a person with a pacemaker is still a human. Just alot more than a pacemaker or replaced hip bone of course.

I'll explain why he was a cyborg. He extended his life with science in order to get to this point. He had the option to become a vampire like Alucard, a PROPER full on second Alucard, but he rejected it because he refused to throw away his humanity. Thus, he lived as a cyborg to die as a man.

I strongly doubt he had that offer - I think that is just an exaggeration on the part of the translator regarding the doctors abilities to extract vampiric potential power, after all there is a clear difference between the regular vampire soldiery of Millennium and the empowered abilities of Lieutenants like Zorin, Tubelcain Alhambra and Rip van Winkle. It is never firmly established that Alucard himself was ever given any offer - he simply just decided he wasn't going to die and that firm belief was superior to death. The sole true oddity of Millennium seems to be the werewolf, he is never truly explained at all.

As he was on the brink of death blood started moving towards him and a voice spoke to him telling him to become a monster, and he refused and pushed the blood away through sheer force of will. Alucard accepted the blood and became a true vampire. The Major can't stand the idea of embracing undeath and losing what it means to be human. He has a whole speech about why he despises Alucard, which is where we even see him reject the blood.

SAOA is a much better next series. The first part of DBZA is, to be blunt, highly dependent on referencing internet jokes from around that time, so it did not age well. I mean, is extremely typical for even the best abridged series from around that time to rely on those kind of short-lived reference jokes and randomness while they got their feet under them and were able to establish their own feel and character humor, so I'm not blaming them. It's just that the early episodes for all abridged series that old tend to be like that. It was part of the growing process, both for the individual series and abridged shows as a whole. SAOA is probably one of the first that doesn't have that issue. Even this one relies on a bunch of references in earliest part (Twilight and Highschool of the Dead jumping to mind) which aren't exactly "timeless"

Ummmm they did explain why the Major is a cyborg in the original Hellsing Ultimate, in a nutshell, he almost died during an operation and the blood of others circled around him, tempting him to become a vampire, but he didnt want to lose his "self", and rejected it. Then he replaced like 90%+ of his body in robotic parts just to survive, for him - he is more human cuz like I said, he didnt lose his "self" even though he's a cyborg

To try and explain the Schrodinger thing: When you start to deal with particles on the subatomic level, existence starts to become more of an optional condition rather than a constant as it does with just about everything else. Why? Buggered if I know, but if I had to bet I would guess out of sheer spite (If you want evidence of that look up the double slit experiment). But, there's a sort of stop-gap solution that's used in quantum physics and this is called probability distribution. For instance, you might not be able to exactly say where a subatomic particle is, but you can specify a range of locations, and the probability for each of those locations to be right, that's all it means. You won't be able to tell which one is correct until you measure it, because this uncertainly only exists for unobserved objects. So, how does this relate to Alucard? By imbibing Schrodingers blood he gains this uncertainty. His position becomes a probability distribution, and turns out his position was somewhere else. This was what the Major had gambled everything on. Though I'm pretty sure it wouldn't mathematically be a 50/50 shot, the current equations don't really work for this kind of scale and there's the question of whether this affected Alucard as a whole or each individual atom of Alucard. If the latter, then this would be near inevitable as this chance would occur for each individual atom. For anyone wondering why this is referred to as "Schrodingers cat", it's because to try and explain the concept the physicist Schrodinger proposed a thought experiment: Let's say that there's a cat in a box. You can't see inside the box, or hear anything inside it. Now, let's propose there's a mechanism to flood the inside of the box with hydrocyanic acid. The trigger for this mechanism is a caesium atom. If this atom decays, it triggers the mechanism and kills the cat. This atom has exactly a 50% chance every second to decay. So, in the following second, is the cat alive or dead? The only way to know for certain is with probability distribution. In this case, the cat is either alive or dead, and both outcomes are equally likely. Therefore, the cat is equally alive and dead simultaneously. It's only after opening the box that you would know which. This would be the "wavefunction collapsing".

So my understanding was that, Alucard disappeared (let alone for 30 years) because once Shroedinger entered his bloodstream, the latter’s existence affected every single soul inside of him. It was like asking 3 million plus people, “are you a good person,” and being their therapists one at a time, 3 million times over. Each soul had to find closure, and the final one was Alucard’s own soul, finally allowing him to reflect on everything he’s done, if his life could’ve gone a different way… Also, there’s one more scene with Walter that didn’t make it into the abridged series. In it, he makes it to where the doctor is, and kills him before the zeppelin catches fire. He then passes on with a smile on his face, and is consumed in the flames. Considering how long and painful suffocating from smoke inhalation and burning alive in a fire are, being shot in the head (and fortunately dying from that bullet) would be a mercy by comparison. Pip now roams the halls of the Hellsing Headquarters, to get extra intel from anyone who has an audience with Intégra, that isn’t willing to say it to her face.

I think they killed Walter the way they did... because as he said, it was a traitor's death. The kind he deserved. I can't recall if it was said in their commentary of the series, but they did not like the last moment redemption of him. Walter pretty much helped the enemy kill millions... just to try he could try and kill Alucard.

Also I noticed something that I need an explanation for. When Alucard was about to lose his head as a human,a bunch of blood just came to him so he could drink it. Similarly when the major was stot to basically death, seemingly all the blood from nearby corpses just willed itself to him but then the blood backed away when he refused to have it. I know to drink blood is to drink souls but why did the blood in these two situations seemingly have a will of it's own and choose who to be drank by?

I always interpreted it as an artistic interpretation of demonic temptation. Unlike Vampires like Seras, True Vampires get their powers from what is essentially a demonic pact, and the catalyst for forming that pact is the willful consumption of human blood, an act of heretical evil. So I always figured the blood flowing towards them represents that moment of demonic temptation in their time of greatest desperation.

I'm at 7:30 in the video now. Okay so if you don't know, Schrodinger's cat is a cat in a box with poison. The cat is either dead or alive.....or rather it becomes one or the other after it is observed and the box is open. But when the cat is not being observed,it is both alive and dead at the same time. This Schrodinger is both the cat and the observer. But instead of living and dead,he is everywhere and nowhere as long as he is self aware and can recognize himself. Now multiply everywhere and nowhere by every soul inside Alucard and he can't recognize himself so I guess he simply becomes nowhere.

Thought I’d mention that “America Classic” and “America Zero” are meant to be the names of the US and Canada respectively, implying that corporate-ruled America annexed Canada and renamed it after different types of Coke. That’s why Antonio says “I miss Canada.” Also the last lines before the credits roll are a flip of Alucard and Integra’s lines from the flashback in episode 9, with Integra telling him to come and “get some sip” while Alucard says “keep your arm steady.”

Basically, he was dying on a battlefield and experienced Alucard harvesting, but he resisted being absorbed, by sheer force of will; he then resolved that above all, as a human being, he would conquered that monster; without becoming a vampire though, he had to find another way to survive long enough for his victory, so he became a prototype subject for the augmentations that would culminate in Anderson.

Basically, the Major was shot multiple times in WWII and was bleeding out. As he was dying blood started flowing towards him as a sort of offer to became a true vampire, but he despised monsters and rejected the offer. He was found by the Doctor who saved his life by turning him into a cyborg, which he felt was still more human than a vampire.

They do explain why Major is a cyborg in the manga though. He wanted to live long enough to be able to command the assault on UK but he wanted to do it as a human, not a vampire so he had his brain preserved as a cyborg to do it. His whole point was that being human is about human will. Which contrasts with Integra and Helsing members because they act in belief that being human is about helping others, or being humane towards those who deserve it (And kill inhumanly whoever does not deserve human treatment, but who cares about details.).

So in the book "dracula" sun light didn't hurt him but it did weaken him significantly to where he could be injured or killed, infact in the book he's stabbed in the chest which renders him immobile then his head is cut off and because this occurs during daylight it actually kills him.

The in story reason for the Cyborg plot point has been explained by now. But to explain how it came about by the writer is a pretty funny story too. Keep in mind, this was mid 2000s cons and so videos are nonexistent and records of what was said at QA/panels is hard to come by at best. But I have multiple friends who attended a con (If memory serves, it was 2006 Otakon which I confirmed he was there) Hirano also attended as a guest. Keep in mind that 9th volume was released in 2007 and the 10th in 2009; the beginning of 9 wrapped up the Anderson and Alucard fight. So mid 2000s is well into the final arc. So, it's Q/A time and someone asks "Why hasn't the Major aged in 50 years?" Cue a complete deer in the headlights moment for Hirano, who tried his best not to say it, but the answer was a pretty clear "I don't know yet". Yes, he had forgot that humans, in fact, age. And so in the 11th hour, the plot point was added to shore up a Grand Canyon sized plot hole. All things considered, I feel it *fits* with the lore he added to go with it, I just find it hilarious that such a plot hole managed to open up.

His watching this with you all was absolutely golden 😂 I absolutely love Kouta Hirano works and TFS’s version is simply amazing. Lad love to see you react to another of Hirano’s works called Drifters. Sadly the show wasn’t popular enough to get a second season and there for I don’t believe anyone has made an abridged version. The show is more or less a love letter to any history nut. The basic premise is that 2 gods summon historical icons from earth moments before their death to be used as pawns in a game to see which team can take over the new fantasy world they were summoned to. Each has their own team, The drifters, heros and prominent figures throughout history fighting for their own goals and ideals And the ends, historical figures that gave up their humanity. The trauma of their lives twisting them into something no longer human, seeking to destroy all of humanity It’s absolutely wild all the strange matchups they have in the show, like Oda Nobunaga, Hannibal, and Butch Cassidy discussing philosophy. Or Naoshi a Japanese zero pilot in ww2 meets Scipio (Roman Empire) and because neither knows the other’s language Scipio decides to just shout out Rome because this savage should at least know the name of the great motherland. Then Naoshi immediately connects the dots Rome=Italy=the axis powers Then he recalled Italiy’s surrender and kicks him in the face It’s such an underrated show plus you got Hirano’s classic trashing of religion with the leader of thw ends be hinted at a very controversial person.

Kekekekeke if you want an easily digestible TLDR for why Alucard disappeared after consuming Schrodinger. Schrodinger is based on Schrodinger's Cat which is a quantum physics thingy that basically can be boiled down to, we don't know if a cat is dead or alive in the box until we open it up and see it. Which then, the outcome is set in stone. Schrodinger takes that idea and turns it into a power. His existence only happens if he can recognize himself (reference to setting the outcome of the experiment). He is everywhere and nowhere (reference to the inability to know if the cat is dead or alive). So combined that and you get someone who has reality bending powers on themselves as long as they can recognize themselves. So, as long as he thinks he is alive, he will be. As long as he thinks he is in a location, he will be... all on the condition he can recognize himself. So when Alucard nommed his soul, he gained this power.... or curse. Alucard's own self is in an ocean of millions of souls. He cannot fricking recognize himself at all amongst this ocean, effectively playing Where's Waldo in a huge sea of souls. And the souls are moving, so even if he gets a glimpse, he wouldn't have the time to remanifest as he would lose it again. His own existence becomes impossible. In the original, he had to kill every soul to finally recognize himself again... in the Abridged, he therapied his way out. Alucard then basically becomes stupidly powerful as he kept Schrodinger's soul and powers. With only 2, he can easily find himself again.

Every vampire in this universe has their own "power." The dandy man had his card illusion bullshit, the lady from the boat had her bullets she could control, Luke had fucking speed _and thought that was a big deal_ (the idiot) and so on. Schrodinger's power, was... Well, the Schrodinger experiment. He couldn't die, or rather, any time nobody was looking at him, he was both dead and alive. Weird power, useful because he could never be killed, so long as something wasn't looking at him, he both did and _didn't_ exist. The thing is, Schrodinger made a point of not eating souls like Alucard or Seras did. Because, by definition, having a soul inside of him would mean there was always something "observing" him, which made his powers just not work anymore. When Alucard drank Schrodinger's blood, he got his power the same way that before he had gotten all the other ones, his #lifehack. And, unlike Schrodinger, Alucard had millions of souls inside of him observing that power. Unlike Schrodinger, he couldn't be dead and alive at once, he couldn't both exist and not exist, it had to go one way or another. So he stopped existing. That's why, when Integra asks for the Major to explain what he did, he shouts "I called 'heads'": even with all the length of preparing and planning the Nazis did, their ultimate plan was a coin flip: either Alucard got that power and nothing else happened, or he got it and instantly stopped existing. Lucky for the Major, his choice came up.
