I saw her in person in 1983 in San Francisco. She had red hair. In person, she was really very beautiful, even more than what her pictures did for her. I did not realize at the time she was as young as she was. I do not recall hearing that she had died. Like anyone who fell into the trap of that world, she deserved more from life. RIP

Well Steve, you hit home with this one! My husband grew up in Farmington and his ancestors settled the area. There are several relatives that grew up with her. I will check with them to get more information from them. But what I understand from them is that no one was surprised that she was in the adult industry. She was always very provocative and troubled. No one was surprised by her tragic demise. Thank you, I didn't know she was living in Palm Springs and didn't put two and two together until now. Steve! I rented this house in 2011-2012. I was living in Long Beach and moved down to do some work for a year. The house was built in 1980, so her passing wasn't long after. The neighbors told me there was a lot of "unsavory" activity going on in the house until someone bought it in 2010 and refurbished it. I never heard about Shauna. I find this interesting though, because there were some odd things that happened while I was living there. I won't get into here, but I'll just say that I do believe in spirits, and there was definitely activity in this house.

I found out about her when I saw the film Shattered Innocence, which is on KZbin. She got a job modeling and didn't realize it was nude at first. However she saw the money and decided why not. She later got into films. Her boyfriend was a cocaine dealer and he ended up going to prison for that. That is allegedly when she died by suicide. A very good movie about what happens in this field. I did some modeling and acting and was always being pressured to do adult films (and explicit nude modeling) because the money is great, but knew I couldn't live with myself if I did. It is great money for a short term but longer term it is horrible supposedly. She was troubled which makes it rougher. Hopefully she is at rest.

She was older than I am but I remember her story, I saw it on Lifetime back in high school. If the details of the story are accurate, I think she was looking for something different than the life her parents lived. (not that there is anything wrong with it, but some people just yearn for a little more than the same, same, same all the time, but who knows) There is a scene in the movie where her dad got her a job at the phone company he worked at. She was being shown around the office and where her desk and the phone were, where she would take calls from customers. The actress portraying Colleen made it seem like that ringing phone with upset customers on the end of the line waiting to be answered was the final straw for her leaving for L.A. with her boyfriend at the time. Some people saw it as, wow, my own desk, etc. but then others saw it as, (including myself) oh God, what a nightmare..lol. I can see why she may have wanted a bit more for herself. She just went about it the wrong way but at that age, you can't really tell most of us anything, you find out the hard way. There was a documentary where her parents were interviewed, someone mentioned her mother was the type that did not like her wearing nail polish and there was a scene in the movie when the mom came into her room and Colleen quickly hides her feet from her mom. It was pink nail polish and her mom was born again or something like that so it was very boring and very judgy judgy for her at home. (from what the documentary implied) I do not judge anyone on how they make a paycheck, I could not do what she did but I can understand why she had a yearning to go to L.A. For those of us that are not from anywhere near CA., it was always this big mystery, beautiful place full of sunshine. But no one tells you about the pitfalls/ scams and skeezey types of people that are there until it's too late. I think she had what they call wanderlust. Plus, she didn't set out to do adult movies, she couldn't get hired anywhere else out there and didn't want to go back home. I think once she was in that world, her reputation was damaged and no legit producer would hire her for mainstream, so she felt stuck, embarrassed and couldn't face anyone back home. Especially that judgey mother of hers. those types are the worst, sorry, but they are. The older guy she was involved with, he was busted for tax evasion and went to prison for a few years, I think. So, he was gone, left the business (some type of shop) for her to run, fix his money issues, alone in that house and no one left for her. Then at the end of the movie, she winds up moving out of his house and in with her one true friend she met in her industry. The friend wasn't home that night and a friend of her ex bf came to "see how she was doing" but Colleen quickly figured out he was there to see if she stole anything from the house. That was when she locked the bedroom door and blew her head off. Sad, just sad. She was playing in a sandbox she didn't belong in.
@markthomas2436Күн бұрын
I am a little familiar with the case, and you have given some great info here. Colleen was a cheerleader, so she knew popularity at her school at one point. She was wanting something more than Farmington could give her. Her boyfriend at the time was crucial in the decision to move West, but he did not stay in the picture for long once they got out there. Even today, he refuses interviews. I do not think her parents were any different than a ton of other Minnesota parents at that time in the early 1980s. I do know her mom suspected that Colleen was murdered, and did NOT commit suicide. The coroner felt differently. Although she liked the photo shoots, it was well known that she did not like the sex scenes she filmed. But she also developed a penchant for coke, and doing porn paid for coke. Jake took a lot of blame for why she shot herself, but Colleen was not a very happy girl long before she ever met him. She is buried in a local cemetery there IN Farmington, and thru the years her grave has indeed been adorned with flowers... sent from many people. She is also a legend in the film industry.
@kimwarner1681Күн бұрын
@ I was also a cheerleader in school & it’s really not a big deal. She may have known that type of popularity in her small town but it’s not enough to squash any desire for something bigger once you leave school. I wondered about the suicide thing as well. If she was deep into that world, who knows what truly happened that night, we will never know for sure, unfortunately. Yes, midwest & east coast parents are the same, imo. Although I did not have a mom that was born again like Colleen’s mom was but I can totally understand the lure to CA. A shame she got into the wrong most dangerous profession.
@markthomas243612 сағат бұрын
@@kimwarner1681 , there was another girl there, in the house, who found her that night. According to the girl, Colleen shot herself. Even her parents said Colleen tried to kill herself in Farmington years earlier, but it did not work and she lived on. That little stunt damaged her reputation around town. The movie they made about her is not an accurate depiction OF her, but it is a decent movie and many people have seen it. Colleen liked a few people in the industry, and some got to know her fairly well. She did photograph on camera and on film very very well, and her work has held up. She is still searched for on internet search engines and her films are still watched. I think she really should have just stayed in Farmington, and found her a man.

"Shauna Grant" was hugely popular in her day, probably because of that "young and innocent" look she projected. She looked perfectly natural and not fake, as many adult stars do. It was widely rumored that she didn't enjoy putting up with the demanding "dirty old men" in the industry. She had actually "retired," at least temporarily, when she moved to Palm Springs. When her boyfriend asked her to move out, she understood that it meant she'd have to go back into the industry. I heard that she had problems with drugs as well.
