Better to Mod this than a vintage late 60s version, for me I would make use of that extra 12ax7 and use both triodes maybe one being high GAIN BRIGHT and medium gain darker or parralell / series the two stages for relly crazy OD Distortion, I did my 1st mod on a Univox that way and it worked great until the old iron x-formers gave up and couldnt find R&Rs

even with just the phone mic, that sounded like the Marshall everyone wants. massive. for me, it sounded like the low input had a great rhythm gain level, and the high would be great for single note riffs and solo's. can it be switchable, i assume you'd have to have two masters, one for each channel.

Holy heavy!!! That is a high gain beast!!! So I guess when you're in the low input and it's acting as a typical plexi and the master volume is cranked you can't really use the effects loop?

You can use the fx loop on any setting the master volume is pre phase inverter.

Would be pretty interesting to hand wire that circuit, without a 5W mode. (This amp does need an attenuator for bedroom levels anyway) No chips, a turret board and the highest quality possible Elkos, Resistors, Pots etc. Figuring out the best layout and lets go. I think this thing would be a beast.

aite break it to me doc: if the guts of a studio-series marshall are pretty much identical to the guts of a mass-produced origin-series or a DSL-series, what did i basically pay for for my SV20--the namesake?? 😢 it is still the best amp i've ever owned, regardless.

The headshell is a lot nicer in the Studio series amps.
