Great job lads. 👏🏻 I noticed you gapped the 18mm OSB, did you have to allow for that slight creeping effect on the boards to remain half lap when you put the last board on as you’d soon add an extra 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch with the spacing. It always surprises me for trades person that really does a good job doesn’t have as many followers as someone that just waffles all day! Really enjoyable to watch as always.
@ukconstruction6 күн бұрын
Hi Darren, The boards come up very slightly under 8ft by 4ft this allows us to maintain a 2 or 3mm gap between as recommended, if we do creep sometimes we will adjust a board with the saw.... as far as followers are concerned .. I could probably do better with my video production and gain a few more!!
@DarrenIngram-t1d6 күн бұрын
The videos are spot on! Just perfect for when I have my 10 o’clock break🙂. A lot of people do these short little clips, it’s not the same and it’s only to get a quick viewing. In my honest opinion, I just think people look at your videos regards quality of work and say na, takes too long or they can do it quicker……. But then as you know the end result is nowhere near, it probably says more about the quality of work out there. I’m glad you said you trim a bit off with a saw, I know you think ahead so methodical and I thought to myself if you’ve space those studs to allow for that 2-3 mm gap, I’m giving up my job😂. I like to think I think ahead, but he didn’t reassure me that you’re human and was nice to hear. Look forward to the next video keep up the good work, mate 👍🏻

What was the reasoning for a wooden structure here, and how long would it last? just thinking about a personal project :)
@ukconstruction6 күн бұрын
It is a really traditional design seen in many rural areas this is the main reason for the style and wooden structure, a decent wooden structure will last hundreds of years if looked after check out some of the historical wooden structures at the Weald and Downland open air Museum some of which are several hundreds of years old

A lot of clients who have a lot of money, like to separate their cars due to environmental factors. One client i had a car that need to be in a heat controlled space to minimise air damage to the chassis (car was an Aston DB4 zagato.. which is millions - client was a hedge fund multi multi millionaire)

Is osb breathable ?
@ukconstruction9 күн бұрын
Standard OSB3 is considered to be slightly breathable
@paulasser15899 күн бұрын
Can I ask why you didn’t make a 6’ rod when cutting the OSB instead of using the tape ?
@ukconstruction9 күн бұрын
There was only a small number of six foot cuts then we are making 4 ft cuts to use the 2 ft offcuts, if i was making only 6ft cuts then a rod as you say would be even quicker

Im guessing the bat safe membrane is now a stipulation if your property had bats found in the survey. My brother had a bats in in survey and got told they can get through something like a hole the size of a pinky. I'll need ti mention it to him . The plans the architect did have to be the best plans I've ever seen every detail is done with dimensions. None of this getting a scale rule out and nonsense getting a wrong size.

@ReedikTuuling9 күн бұрын
@@ukconstruction In terms of shear strength, the thickness of the OSB doesn't matter (essentially). 13mm for 600OC is optimal, and anything thicker means you are just lugging extra weight around. There are cases for thicker boards on walls, but usually for extra fire resistance.
@gerard_38649 күн бұрын
