I actually think those backless slides are hideous, and always look cheap. And peoples feet make a thwack noise when the foot hits the shoe. Im kind of liking a more gladiators sandal again. Not super complicated, but something at the back, or around the ankle. The backs of feet are ugly anyhow. I mean we have done puffy slides now, so what is next?

I am sorry to disagree on the cold shoulder part. I am 63 and those kind of tops work wonders for me, hiding the wings on my arms. They make the shoulders look nice and hide the defects on the arms. So, I will continue wearing them because the y are flattering on me. :)

I actually liked that 3rd black strappy tank top. Wonder where to get it. Cuffed jeans allow you to adjust the length of one pair of jeans to fit all occasions. It's a lot more frugal than having to buy multiple pairs of jeans in multiple lengths. "Toe sandals"? They've only been in style for like 5000 years. That is one of the most normal styles of sandals ever. "Baby doll" tops aka empire waist tops. They skim over hips and belly and don't emphasize your belly as badly as a slender fit top would. Oh and unless you're size 0, and the oversized top sags on your tiny frame, shackets looks frumpy. It's like when overalls come into style. They only look cute on tiny framed people, the rest of us? We look like Farmer Jones.

I think people have to take into account the differences between communities. For example, if you've ever been a high school student in one city and moved to a different city, the things that are considered fashionable can be totally different. You stick out like a sore thumb. So before you make big decisions about your clothes, look around and see what people are wearing where you are.

...... This might hold true, to a point... however, I believe that there's a balance...I would not alter my style of dressing, drastically just to " fit in "... Of course, Teenagers in H.S. want to fit in... but where does the Authentic Self come in , ...(?) I was the girl in H.S. who wore matching dresses and shoes ... heels, etc. I didn't care what everyone else was wearing.... I already " knew who I was ' in that regard. This was back in the late Sixties and early Seventies, and we were not even allowed to wear jeans to school except on Fridays.... I wore dark denim and my mother sewed this really cool inch and a 1/2 border of trim along the bottom of my really nice jeans and it had metallics threads in it. .. gold, silvery colour, a dark blue and a lighter blue. ... everyone asked where I got those jeans. I was a " blazer girl ', even in High School... I had several, wore them with my jeans and trousers. ... I wasn't wearing tie dye T shirts, and all that. I still don't.... lol. But if other people like to wear that and follow the crowd, , then that's them and that's ok. , ...but I don't think Confidence is taught enough ,when knowing " who one is " in regards to clothing , choices, and how one is choosing that Self expression. :) Just my thoughts.

I don't know about that, dressing differently can be a conversation starter too. There was this girl in my year in high school that dressed like pack of highlighters every day of her life and even though it wasn't exactly fashionable it just brightened up my day to see her. Me telling her that was how we became friendly. Granted, me going to school in sweats and oversized everything half the time might have made me more approachable as well, but that's hindsight talking. It wasn't the done thing in the early 2010's, at least not in my school, at least not be the "cool kids". Point is, style may change, but people don't change all that much. If you're comfortable in what you wear, it'll only be an asset in making friends and finding your footing even in an unfamiliar environment.

Were striped cardigans ever really that "in" to the point where they're now "out"? I don't associate them with strongly with 2017 or whatever year she mentioned. 2017 makes me think of strappy cris cross tshirts, cold shoulders, and the start of the loafer mule trend. At first I thought she was going to say that longer cardigans in general were out of style, but she didn't. It was the stripe pattern specifically. But from what I've seen, stripes have always been around - never super fashion forward but never super outdated.

I had the same issue. Had to be brutally honest with myself about my heath and hit the trails until fall. I then got.a gym membership with no contract under 25 a month. No longer worry what others think and have lost some weight. By loodwork now is normal, A1C is great and I have more lean muscle than fat. Anyone can do it, on a budget with the right mindset. I.didnt have time, so I woke.earlier. I kicked excuses out and thank goodness I did before I dis irreversible damage

A better alternative to the baby doll style to conceal the tummy is the wrap style shirt or dress. WAY more flattering and effective and looks good on heavy & slim people. Give it a try!

Shea I am 99% with you, most all of these I never liked so don’t own. HOWEVER, the exception is the sandal. I have been wearing thong sandals since my childhood and I’m 73. They are a classic. I so want to wear those Sam Eldeman slides but my little toe is SO short it gets caught in the straps. 😢

Reason people have fake nails and polish is that their natural nails are not nice to look at and/or hard to maintain Some of us use our hands quite a bit in our daily life and the nails take the brunt of the work. After a year of wearing nail polish on my toes, I went 'natural' for spring and discovered 4 of my toenails are dark and discolored. Hardly sophisticated.

Great video! I’m in agreement with you on almost everything. Hate a cold shoulder, don’t care for stripes in my cardie and not a big fan of cuffing jeans. I cut them off and put in a narrow hem. I’m old, and the over sized shirt as a jacket over a tank or other shirt is so 1970’s! I wore those in junior high school. Sandy Duncan had a TV series, The Sandy Duncan Show, in 1971 and that was her go to look in many of those episodes. To me a shirt as a jacket looks dated and 70’s Old! 😂

I know they have been unpopular for awhile but I still wear cold shoulder tops sometimes. As a big girl who lives in Texas they help a bit with the heat since I can't do tank tops. I have a handful of babydoll maxi dresses that are actually very flattering, but I have to be super careful which ones I buy because so many do make you look pregnant. The main thing is to make sure the flared part it not very full and that it starts an inch or so below the bust so you have some waist definition. Old Navy has gone overboard with cropped tops and that needs to stop

The babydoll tops are easy to wear because you don't have to tuck them in and they emphasize the narrowest part of your torso right under the bustling so they can be flattering on most people but it's true that some do kind of billow out around the belly.

I love these videos and I love that you do it in fun and don’t care what people think. Even though, could you please offer an alternate option for baby doll shirts? You have an alternative for almost every style except that one, and that is one that a lot of plus size girls (including myself) may reach for. I know that it doesn’t actually look better, but please tell me what does that gives me the same feeling of my belly not being hugged! I’ve never been offended by anything you say, but the last point came across to me as someone who is just not aware of other body sizes and really hit that one hard. (That’s why you still see it everywhere, plus size girls buy them!) Another note: could you find a friend that is plus sized and do some of your fashion videos of you styling her? There are differences in what looks good and I have to play around with your ideas to find what works for me. I think a plus sized video would do so well!

If I may offer a few ideas to search for on YT….It’s all about balancing body proportions, not about hiding problem areas. Think I’m terms of the overall effect, not one area. I think the main problems with babydoll are two-fold: (1) It cuts your body line more “in half” because if the top comes down to the middle or bottom of the hip it ends halfway down your body at the widest point. This can in part be corrected by choosing a style that ends at the top of the hip, combined with the lower half of the outfit being one color or monochromatic. (Look up videos on the “rule of thirds” for dressing.). And (2) Babydolls can make the body look wider if they have too much material gathered at the belly, so choose a style that skims the body closer (and again, that ends at the upper hip, creating an hourglass effect rather than a tent effect). Babydolls can also make the chest area look too short and the torso look too long, messing up the proportions vertically, and the neckline can affect this as well! She has a lot for dressing a short torso but as someone with a longer torso it’s still super helpful because I basically do the opposite but the rule still applies. Also it’s important to remember that when we look at our own bodies we zero in on what we consider problem areas, but when others look at us they see our entire body proportions first. By keeping our proportions balanced we can help prevent people from focusing on the areas we don’t want them to look, and emphasizing the areas we like! So for example a blousy flowy button up top that is tucked in (with a blousy effect, not tightly tucked in), in the same color or monochromatic color as pants, then a longer layer over the top in a contrasting color, will create a vertical line and draw attention away from the belly because the eye will move up and down lengthwise instead of focusing on the middle. A babydoll top literally pulls the eye to the belly if it ends past the upper hip because it cuts off the body in half and at the widest point). We are our own harshest critics and sometimes when we focus on a problem area and try to hide it, we end up messing up the whole big picture and we fail to emphasize the part of ourselves that looks the most beautiful! I also like the advice of taking photos or little videos of your outfits and comparing them. I was able to see how things I thought were helping weren’t actually the best look for me! Because of this I switched from Babydolls to a wrap style, because I have an hourglass shape and the babydoll made it look like my waist was right under my boobs, rather than a few inches farther down. It totally changed the proportions of my body, while still allowing me to wear styles that flowed out to the hip hiding my muffin top. I could t see it till I took a pic and put them side by side! It helped me see myself more objectively. Hope some of this helps! But don’t forget to focus on the parts you want to show off as much as the parts you want to hide! You are beautiful!

I also want to add that: Plus size is NOT A SHAPE! Petite is not a shape either! The main thing that will dictate what looks good is not being plus size, it’s your shape! The Kibbe body types helped me see this because it focuses on bone structure and the way clothes drape across the body. I began to see that I needed to dress according to my body lines overall, not to “fix” a problem area. The problem areas naturally disappear when I focus on dressing and enhancing my body’s natural structure and lines. For example I’m a Kibbe romantic, so if I’m going to choose a wrap top I look for one that is visually curvier (like it’s made a series of circles or s-curves), while someone else who is a dramatic Kibbe type might also have an hourglass shape but would look best in a wrap top with angular geometric shapes (like a series of triangles or with geometric pattern or cutouts). Both are hourglass but entirely different body structures! My opinion is that everyone should just wear what they feel comfortable in, or what THEY think looks pretty, or both. If you like your clothes then just wear them, it's really not anyone else's business. There are some people out there who get WAY too hung up on "style," if there even is such a thing. I think that as long as you avoid the most obvious blunders (like, I don't know, wearing sweats to a cocktail party), then you should be fine. Just use common sense if you're attending a formal event, otherwise wear whatever you want. That's what I think anyway.

I totally love the slide sandals, but just can’t wear them. I wish I knew some tricks to keep them on. Also I feel like the other type for walking are more comfortable and stay on. Specially on vacation or taking long walks. I am always so jealous of how beautiful they look on other. But in a good way jealous. Fun video to have other options. Totally agree, it's my favorite pattern. I feel like camo comes and goes every few years, so sometimes it is common and sometimes not. However, I don't think I ever look at anyone wearing it and think it looks dated.

I have some great summer cold shoulder tops that I hate to part with, but it’s time to donate them to a charity. They were great and served their purpose but it’s time to part ways. 😢 I never got into the camo look, just too casual/sporty for me. I love wearing black a lot and my very favorite neutral colors. I feel like it still could have looked like a stylish outfit depending on the pieces themselves and how they looked on YOU. Some people just carry things well, where the same outfit would look outdated on someone else. With most clothing pieces I find it hard to have a "all or nothing" approach. There are too many other factors. Like the cold-shoulder tops. I have some and because I don't have the best shoulders, I don't think they look good on me and think overall, most of those style tops now seem outdated. However, the woman in her examples (I think she was black, wearing a dark green top) looked amazing and *to me* did not look outdated. I loved that top on her. But she is a model with great shoulders, so...... LOL

Slides sandals are cute and everywhere. Unfortunately there are millions of women like me for whom a slide sandal is impossible and thong sandals are the much better option. I have a bad bunion and hammer toe on one foot and slides just won’t work. So cute and comfortable things will have to continue to work for me.
