You should get a carport for the RV. Get one double wide and have shade for the deck.

Mike, just a thought, but did you think of pouring the dry concrete in your shed, for flooring and keep water out, then pack steel wool or spray foam around edges to keep the critters out. Helps with hornets building nests.

Maybe paint the roof of the shed white to reflect the sun, then insulate the ceiling on the inside.
@hannakinn

When I lived in a hot desert town (El Centro, California) the roofs of a lot of the houses had gravel, pieces about nickel sized but rather triangular shaped stuck to the roof and then it was all painted white. All of the angles on the rock and the white paint helped reflect more sunlight keeping the roofs of the houses cooler. That was decades ago, insulation techniques have improved since then but it was pretty effective. I had a friend there whose house had been built by his grandfather in the days before air conditioning and still wasn't all that hot inside with the AC off. The house was dug partially into the ground and the walls were made with several layers of Adobe bricks, the floors were tiled. The roof had the rocks and the white paint, the house exterior was stucco with glitter like specks in the paint and there were cloth awnings above the windows. Native plants and grasses were in the landscaped yard. That old house was perfect for the environment it was built in. It was very organically pretty inside with rounded arched doorways. There are ways to leave screened openings at the bottom and tops of outbuildings that help create airflow and create a cooling effect.

The fact that you could move that shed intact at all is amazing. I have always needed to mostly take the whole thing apart to move it, the reassemble it.

They've got those fairly cheap carport covers you can purchase pretty reasonably. It may cost you a little more because it needs to be a little taller because of the height of the motorhome. Kinda like the one Campervsn Keven bought just taller.

🦉 Just a thought - I’ve seen folks hang a tarp like sun screen piece off the fridge side of rv that appears to tie on. Not sure how much it might help but worth looking into. Maybe create like a temporary lean-to out of wood or metal and cover in reflex-it material therefore acting as a shade barrier on fridge’s side. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So it's all going according to plan (or it is what it is, right?). Anyway, glad you got the shed moved without any major dents or damage. If you want to put up a more permanent type of deck, Max from "Max & Occy" build one down under that shades his van and has an outdoor shower. It looked like a whole lot of work, so I'm hoping that you can build one that is cost effective and works for you.

10 out of 10 sheds are damaged when moved, Some more some worse, Once those type of sheds are put together and on sight, they're not made to be moved, But you did a good job Trying, everyone Will enjoy the journey of watching the land develop, I like the Rome Wasn't built in a day Comment, You need to build a gazebo and an awning over The RV, or Build a garage for the RV and a building for a man cave, The more shelter you can build the better, So then you won't be confined to the RV all day or When it rains, Your best investment would be a shipping container, They make good man caves as well, Get a 40' footer, The shipping containers are critter tight also, I believe they're already plumbed for water collection also water only falls off on 2 or 3 points,

Mike, I really have to hand it to you. I think a lot of us thought you would not be able to move the shed without it falling apart. I was hoping you would park the RV near the trees where it was shady when you came out the door. It would have helped you keep the blazing hot sun from shining in RV. It would have helped to keep the temp down inside your trailer. I suggest you install one of those pull out awnings that attaches to the side of the RV? BTW, don't put anything that the mice can destroy in your shed. That shed is going to be the new home for all the critters. I love how things are coming together. Keep up the good work!

All I can say is, Mike make a to do list and write it down every week or day. Make sure to cross off every accomplishment and add to your to do list everyday. This is how you can hold yourself accountable. If something is on your to do list sits on it for four weeks then reconsider it or adjust it. The best part is, you can celebrate in your accomplishments. Just saying it's worked for me for a few decades. Unfortunately they don't teach this in school.

I'm surprised how little damage they shed took. Y'all did a good job. You handle the heat better than me. But at least it's a dry heat. I have always wondered if you rigged up a watering system for your roof if it would bring down the temp significantly inside. I know in the oilfield that's how they cool off the inside of the doghouse is by spraying down the roof. It will drop 10 degrees just by wetting the roof down.

The reason you're having issues with the doors hanging up on the shed is because the building isn't level, maybe get some fake grass like AstroTurf and put in front of your RV door and that will solve the sun reflection off of the sand and help with tracking sand in

How about building a slanted stand for the solar panels placed in front of the refrigerator wall. The wall will always be in a shade under the panels. Build you deck the same length as your RV and 8 ft wide about 1 ft off the ground or for the top of the decking is flush with the RV door threshold.

If you faced the RV towards the south where most of the sun comes from and glare, it would Greatly minimize that issue, just be sure to separate the front of the RV from the rest of the living area and make sure the front where it gets the hottest is ventilated. Also, cover the front with a sun blocker like reflectix (or whatever) on the outside to deflect most of the heat. That would be an immediate improvement, and buy you time to create proper shade but I would still face it that way during the hot months personally, for what that's worth.

I know I said this before and you already dismissed it but it would be in your best interest to do some more research. Tires will rot faster on concrete than sand. Even those pavers. The porosity of the cement draws or leeches the oils out of the rubber, causing it to dry out much quicker. I had two vehicles parked for several years. One on a concrete pad and one on the dirt beside it. The tires on the pad were dry rotted beyond use. The ones on dirt were good to go. Others I have talked to have had the same results. You could fashion a rescue blanket to hang on the wall over the fridge area to deflect the suns heat until such time as you can make a porch also. But what do I know? lol.

could a temporary tarp fastened with magnets to your RV give your sunny side some shade until you get your deck in place ? The damage to your shed is a disappointment but THANK GOD it is minor. I love how it is snuggled in between the trees, the field mice will probably appreciate the shelter as well. Progress ! Progress ! Progress ! One step at a time...Thanks for sharing.
