Күн бұрын

One afternoon this week, absolutely nothing seemed to go right for Ivan and John, so we've included footage of that to entertain Shed Racing fans. Now the fuel tank is fitted in the car, the interior is back in, front lights on and it has been up and down the field a few times. Progress.

Back in the day my grandfather had a name for himself as a Bug builder and tuner in Melbourne Australia. Loved seeing Suzie drive a propper machine.. a visceral experience.... noise, vibration, smell, wind, effort....fun!! Thank you all.

" You did very well............. for a woman!" Oh Ivan you are living dangerously me old mate lol. Love the Bugatti it's looking really good. Suzie was thrilled to do her first drive and she did do very well, for any person not used to double de clutching. It takes a lot of practice to get it right on what I assume is a straight cut gearbox.

I had a 1951 Austin A-40 that left me with good memories. I saw at the back of his workshop a car that appeared to be a green Austin Pick-up. I remembered mine. beautiful work! I'm Brazilian from Rio Grande do Sul/Porto Alegre.

From a retired old mechanic over in the colonies ( nova scotia ) you guys are a hoot. Suzie’s whitt is terrific. “Have you ever done this before ? John’s fabrication skills are second to none. And of course all centred around building a car for Suzie. Too bad you couldn’t find a suitable job for Ivan ! Easy to see who was holding the ol’ camera for the road test though. I had to go and take a gravol, for motion sickness! Thoroughly entertaining, and a definite Oscar is in your team’s future. A million thanks.

Suzie seems so happy -- such a fabulous lady. I would give anything to meet both her and Ivan someday. I love looking at her reflection in the finish of the body as she operates the camera. John is a master mechanic -- rather like my grandfather who worked as a repair track foreman for the long-defunct Illinois Central railroad. This is such a lovely car!

When I think of the time this thing was made, it boggles the mind at the engineering. People don't realize how few mechanical things there were in those days.

Maybe it's even more mind boggling that this car could be created so cohesively by some gents of advancing years in a shed using mainly 100 year old secondhand parts ?

In the US, we use "Crush and Run", fine and medium gravel, to level our drive so drainage still happens.Allot of it is recycled concrete mixed with gravel so it's porous.

Books have been wrong ,on cars , this early book on the Bugatti isn’t alone. On a much more recent note I used to work on my families Fiat Panda , and the Porter book on the little Italian workhorse got the valve order wrong inlet - exhaust in his text, it was spotted by other Fiat club members too !
