Most horses have one toe clip at the front, and two at the back. Driving horses will have one on all 4. Some horses with foot imbalances will have 2 on the front and back. As for this workout any at all, personal preference or if the horse doesn't need them.
@platedlizard
@platedlizard Жыл бұрын
Depends on how much shear will be put on the shoe. Draft horses need more clips for example because they are pulling more & need traction, a regular horseshoe might come right off.
@SarahJSwift
@SarahJSwift Жыл бұрын
@@whocares110 it's actually standard practice. I've seen multiple American farriers in videos using toe clips, and of course in the UK, they are standard. One on the front and two on the back. Occasionally two are used on the front for dorso palmar imbalances and if they have a medio lateral imbalance, it's usually 2 with either a half bar, full bar, egg bar or even heart bar.

No, he had to take that much frog off. That overgrown, and the frog traps moisture and increases the chance of a thrush infection. Also the frog acts like a pump, helping blood flow up the leg.

I watched a Chinese guy shoe a donkey and though I know nothing of how this is done, it looked like a total hack job compared to this. He tied the foot to a pole and went after the hoof with an electric planer. The shoe only hit hoof in three places and looked the wrong size. The shoe in this video looked like perfection.

Our farriers train for many years to achieve a legally recognised accreditation studying theory, medical and practical outcomes. Our vets who only spend a few weeks training in specific aspects of equine care ask farriers for advice. I'm sure the frog will be fine.

It doesn't hurt if done correctly. Shoeing is done for a lot of reasons, usually to protect the hoof and stop it wearing away faster than it grows. Shoeing should be done, on average, every 6 weeks.

how do wild horses survive without a farrier?
@lauralake7430
@lauralake7430 Жыл бұрын
My understanding, and this is just what I was told, is that wild horses can wear their own hooves down because they travel many miles a day in search of feed. Also, if a wild horse has a foot imbalance or injury that could benefit from a good farrier, well, it's too bad. Sadly, in nature, a wild horse does not live as long or well as a horse that is well taken care of does. Particularly a wild horse with a hood or foot or leg problem. Again, I am not an expert of any kind. I asked the same question and it was explained, and I lived near where wild mustangs lived
