I'm new to eBay and Mercari. I've been watching y'all's videos the past 3 or 4 weeks. I can tell you that with NOT having any sort of printer that the QR CODE is the best option for me. It's so easy. Just have the code ready and they scan and print the label. You can also screenshot it and send it to your Wife while at work and she can do it for you 😅 All you have to do is confirm after package is dropped off. New Subscriber here BTW!

I'm not sure that your comic strips are what you think they are. As someone who collects these, yours mostly look like cutouts from either the newspaper, reprint magazines like Comic Strip Art Magazine, or one of the many books that have reprinted some or all of the Star Wars comic strips. Basically you start with the original line and ink drawings. These can be one piece of bristol board, or they can be paste-ups, where the artists drew each individual panel then they cut and paste those originals onto a bristol board. Often the title block of the strip is just a copy, because no artist wanted to draw the title block 100 times, so they just made copies they cutout and past up. These original pieces then go to a proof printer and get printed in black and white. These proof copies go to the editor(s) to review/markup; the type setter gets a copy with the number of columns and lines (the size) so they can start laying out a space of that size on the page; if the strip is to be in color, a copy might to to the color artist so they can mark it up as a color proof, etc. Then after any changes happen and any color proofing is done, another production copy is made on a proof printer again. These final proofs mainly go to the editor(s) for final approval. Once approved, the plate maker gets them to make the printing plates for mass production. The problem with yours being consider "production proofs" is that I don't see any markings on what you show. Editors would normally put notes in the margins. There would be markings on them that indicate the intended size (columns x lines or points). One the back there will be stamps that say "Property of" or have place for initials or signatures to sign off they had been reviewed and approved (why would the next person just start making the next step, without knowing the initial reviewers had approved). You will find dates or volume numbers to know which issue that was supposed to be included in. I don't see any of that on yours. When production proofs are printed, they do make extras. Say a color artist is making a color proof and screws up, you don't want to have to go back and print out 1 more copy. You make 20 extras for that kind of situation. Usually those have to be destroyed because they can't have that leaking before the actual issue or paper gets printed. But occasionally some of those sneak out the door or end up in someone's desk. Sometimes the paper just sticks the extras in their archives along with all the marked up copies that were used. So unused copies do survive pretty regularly (particularly if it is of something popular). So at best, you might have some unused production copies. The problem there is, how do you tell the difference between one of those unused copies, and a copy of that copy? How would you prove that they are actually 1st or 2nd state production copies? Generally these suspected unused copies are low value, maybe $5-$10 each. I've owned some of them that I actually purchased right out of the newspaper archives, so I could document they were original period unused production copies (had a letter from the newspaper stating it), and I was getting $10 a piece out of them (1975 Cincinnati Reds pre-season promotional art ad; I also bought the original pasteup of that page, which appraised at $3500 vs $10 for the copy). At worst, some guy got his hands on an unused proof and then made copies of the proofs for his kids, who cut them up. And then maybe he made more copies of his copy, and setup at the local comic show selling them for a buck or two a page to Hulk fans. Who knows... I would really be hesitant to call them proof or pre-production pieces, because from what you have shown, many clearly are not that, and I didn't see anything in your video or E-Bay listings that would support that claim. So if someone buys them as a proof or pre-production piece, anyone that certifies that type of material would refuse to certify and at the very best, say inconclusive, and likely say no on many of the pieces. Then you'll have a mess on your hand with people wanting a refund AND money back they paid for verification/certification. I would just call them copies and leave it at that, unless you have something else (like a letter from a newspaper saying those came straight out of their archives). Then they could be proofs, they could be newspaper clippings, they could be magazine reprints: all those are copies.

The Conan stuff you showed in your previous video is more what you would expect to see form a syndicated comic strip. The syndication company would ship out copies of the strips to the local newspapers who were going to print them. The local newspapers would then work from those copies. The copies sent from the syndication company would include things like size (columns and lines) and the dates they were to appear in print (so every paper would get them on the same day). There were a little over 1000 pages in the entire syndicated run, so if you have 500, you have about half the run. Then you had a letter about incorrect dates, and that letter would be specific to a certain packet of copies that arrived with wrong dates (so you should keep that letter with those strips). They were distributed by the Register and Tribune Syndicate, which was later purchased by King Syndicate. The Register and Tribune syndicate never syndicated to more than 1000 newspapers, so that is the max possible number of newspapers that would have received copies of Conan strips. Only the Family Circus hit that kinds of number, so Conan was likely at least somewhat less than that at its peak distribution. The earlier in the strip you get (it started in 1978), the fewer copies there will be. X number of papers will pick it up initially, and then as time goes on, more papers add it if it is popular. Some papers may drop it if local readers have an objection. So maybe 800-1000 copies of what you have were made. So how many were kept and survive? Probably a smaller number, but who knows...

For the comic artwork have you thought about selling some of it thru Heritage Auctions. The consignment fees would be similar to eBay fees, and you wouldn't have to deal with listing and shipping. And you might get more for them since Heritage has the audience for that type of stuff.

I'm a new reseller and use what I have right now and I don't have a printer for my labels yet,I save the qr code in my phone and have it scanned at the post office. I screen shot my qr code I get from ebay, make a note on it of what the item is and have it scanned . I also make a note on the box or package of my item so I can match it up at the post office. It really does save a ton of money and doesn't take much extra time. I wouldn't pay the postage at the post office itself. You will lose money that way because ebay discounts your shipping when you buy through them.

Had a family friend that bought that Magnetix kit for my young toddler son. I knew right away that no way is that appropriate for his age. I put the box on a high shelf in the hallway until I could decide what to do with it later. Well, weeks later my 21 yr old stepdaughter thought it would be a fun activity for my son. Of course, a magnetic ball went right into his mouth. She came running to me to tell me she thinks he swallowed one. Luckily, he hadn't, and I got it out of his mouth. She then wasn't sure if he swallowed some. So I counted them all out and they were all accounted for.

Now the self service machine prints out the label from the QR code. For pirate ship i have only had UPS and you email the label to the store your at and they print it out for like $3.

I have often used the QR code. It downloads to your email. Open it and the post office scans it and puts the label on. We vacation about 100 miles away and frequently leave before the post office is open. So we take the packages with us. Fortunately, that office is just inside our zone so I don't have to change anything.

Mercury: yes Lonnie, when I was a kid I had a small beaker with about have a teaspoon of mercury and liked to put some on a flat surface and watch it bead up (like a water droplet) as I played with it, pushing it around, the droplets would merge together like the newer Terminator in the later Arnold Schwarzenegger movie franchise. My gunsmith father in late 50’s and 1960’s used mercury cleaning hard to access areas of gun parts. It was in a small green glass prescriptions size bottle. I used to play with it. As I got old enough to help I cleaned parts with carbontechtachloride bare hands and small paint brush. We found out that was dangerous so used leaded gas after that.

I had a older-history teacher in high school ; he told us that as kids they would take as much mercury as they could find... (if you don't know what that is; it's a liquid- metal at room temperature) him and his friends would have contests of who could hold the most mercury inside their mouths without their lips coming apart and the mercury dropping out... when the kids (90's high school kids) asked what he was talking about ; he explained that the metal is so heavy that it was difficult to keep the mouth/lips closed as a kid put more and more in their mouth. Then he had to explain liquid metal and the weight/ etc to kids that had no idea what it was :)

Estate sale companies will sell anything. Jarts, recalled stuff, scrimshaw, ivory, lead paint, radioactive waste, if someone wants to buy it they'll sell it. At least most of them will. Especially the "unnamed" ones.

Yeah, you'll find those and recalled blenders at pretty much every estate sale ever...and every vintage booth ever...since they can't sell them online. Always fun paying money for something you can't resell.

Lonnie, I'm almost finished with Suits. What was the other show you are watching now? Billionaires?

Yes! Billions. Most of the seasons are on Amazon prime video

Enjoy your videos. I know it’s probably a rare occasion for experienced resellers as yourselves but have you ever experienced a sourcing drought where you’re just not finding the items you normally and regularly find? Do you then foray into other areas for inventory or sit it out? Thanks!

Be careful doing free shipping on Mercari, if it gets lost in the mail Mercari won’t cover it cause you didn’t use their shipping label. It happened to my wife and i who have been selling on Mercari for years… so now we don’t do free shipping on Mercari anymore.

No different from ebay or anywhere else I sell. If the package gets lost in the mail then I am liable. Refund and file claim with carrier.

I have a question. On those advertisement proofs, would they be not be allowed to ship Media Mail?, or would this be an exemption since they aren't intended to be actual advertising? Watch your channel religiously and really enjoy all your content. Mike from NY

I really don't think they would be considered media since they were not made for the public.

I bit through several glass thermometers as a kid. I have no clue how I didn't get poisoned. I was driving my drunk relatives around at 12. I think kids should be protected, but they do go a bit crazy these days. Not with those magnets though that's a poor design that should have never been permitted to be sold. Good thing yall were not looking in a mirror with all that candyman talk.

I am thinking your memory Lonnie may have been Gallium, which acts just like mercury at 85 degrees. I am pretty sure Mercury has been known to be toxic for quite some time. But who knows?
