First time user, first attempt at trying to shear a sheep. I set mine up as you describe in the other video and I went very slow. It never cut as easy as you show, and it took about an hour to do one half of a Suffolk ewe. When I tried to finish her other side, it wouldn't cut at all. Do these blades need sharpening before use?

Hi Chris. This gear is for hobby farmers and small sheep herds. It is good value for this group of people who are looking for shearing gear that is inexpensive. Professional shearer’s will use name brand shearing gear because they are shearing thousands a year not just a handful. A completely different market. Thanks for comment. Cheers Justin
