When I was young, my mother made shawls for each of my two sisters. They always wore them in cooler weather to church on Sunday mornings. This brought back such fond memories... Thank you for that...

It takes me 3 hours, with help, to tie on a 30 inch warp @ 6 ends per inch. I completed a 60x60 inch plaid shawl by having my wife sew the edges together. What about the washing, degreasing, dyeing, drying, carding, spinning and plying? From experience, I allow 7-8 hours at the spinning wheel (Ashford Saxony)for every hour at the loom. The only reference I have is an Englishman in Lancashire who, in 1810, had his workers do the entire process and his tailor sew him a suit from 6:00 am-6:00 pm. He wore the suit at a formal dinner so it apparently passed muster. I am probably not the most accomplished person and my old two shaft counter balance union loom is probably not the fastest, but if anyone disagrees with what I have said, then feel free to reply and comment.
