Make sure you put in lithium energizers. For anything I want to work, after long term storage energizer lithiums are the way to go. Radios, flashlights, led flare strobes for the car, etc. I try to consolidate everything to use AAs too

A lot of good information in the video. Getting to see items out of the package is invaluable. I would recommend zooming out just a bit if you do something similar in the future. Most of the time at least some of the item was off camera.

I have and do watch every video I can for ifak and first aid. It’s been a hobby of mine for 40 years. This is one of the best I have seem. Bravo sir. I have watched this video over 10 times. It’s worth it every time.I like to put some tape wings on the package to help grab the two ends and open.

love how you stated the tourniquet had plastic on it and to get it off as it will slow you down. Dang right! if you hands are covered in blood you likely will not get it open.

I'd actually recommend not removing items you're not trained in. When I was an EMT (B) I carried several I and P items in my response bag (venous tourniquet, Magill forceps for example) because they can be handed to the paramedic once they arrive without them having to waste seconds getting them out their own kit. Plus on more than one occasion the bloody paramedic had lost their tourniquet entirely!

Nice breakdown. Gave me some ideas I hadn't considered. I'm trying to assemble a general 1st aid kit for my car and something to bring on outdoor trips. Years ago I had an active Wilderness First Responder cert and our instructor told us we could ask any doctor for an Epi-Pen script to use on others based on our training. That's the only thing I would consider adding. I guess some benadryl tabs would work in a pinch for bee stings without an active certification. Supposedly we were at the level of training for the pleural cavity tube thing, but that gives me the willies along with the nasopharyngeal tube :P I'd make a horrible EMT 😅 Have an old friend that's an active Green Beret and he said they had to do an emergency room residency as part of his combat medic training and he had to stick one of those injections into a guy with a collapsed lung... the patient let out the most god-awful scream! LMAO

Great video. Only disagreement would be removing stuff that one is not trained how to use. I think that you should keep those items because someone else responding to an emergency might know how to use them but not have any supplies with them. I think that it is better to be over prepared than wishing you had tools essential to save a life.

this is unbelivable. i in serbia, never got to military, as, here its milosevic country, i never want to serve that kind of army ever. but here its first time i see something like this. in us i see all special operations units drils and all kinds of things that give me education, and more, it give me mentality i see how i become diferent person, so, its e perfect tool, and, i know about medical education sequence in S.O.U. training and education, i know they get serious education in medical things, so, i even got this now, wow, and there is even more.. my mother oh ogd. you know, i actualy, when i go to he woods, i always cary silver water, gaza, those kinds of tape for to glue it, and, so that what ever the scratch or a cut, i can have it treated easily, and i even bring absorbent cotton as i discovered when you have your skin damaged, you just put it directly on your skinn, and it becomes just like skin it self, you feel no pain anymore, not injured at all, your free to walk in your shoues, or, to grasp with your hands what ever you like, just as if you ware notinured. so, its a perfect tool. thank you, and i cant wait to watch all the videos on your chanel. i cant say how many thenks

Not trauma related but I carry glucose gel in mine. Used it twice to assist in diabetic incidents which would have otherwise developed into an unconscious casualty. Good video.

My IFAK also includes a "survival rescue blanket" (i.e. a "space blanket") to treat for shock, as well as a small Sharpie permanent marker to note that a tourniquet has been applied and to mark the time of application, for responding EMS.

I have several but they all have at least 1 SOF-T W, pair of Compact Hyfin Chest Seal, 4 or 6" pressure bandage/ETD, 1 or 2 Combat Gauze, 1 flat pack compressed gauze, 1 NPA, Dcomp needle, flat pack frog tape, shears and of course a sharpie. Thanks for the video.

Typically a second set of seals or other occlusive dressings. Torso is big and it’s not always just one hole, couple sterile 4x4’s for smaller booboos 🤙🏻

I always see videos where people say you can use hemostatic gauze to pack a wound, but every product I find specifically says "for external use only". Are you not actually supposed to pack the wound with it? Or is it kinda like the q-tip warning, where everyone knows what its ACTUALLY used for, but for liability reasons, they have to write "don't put these in your ears" on the packaging?

I have pretty much all these items plus some 4” ETDs and a set of compact hyfin seals. I’m planning to keep the main trauma kit in my truck until I get training and run a blow out kit on my belt: 2x CAT-T, 1x trauma shears, 2x 4” ETDs, 2x S-roll gauze, 1x pair compact hyfin seals, 1x pair gloves, small roll of duct tape, and a couple of safety pins. Would this be acceptable for an untrained individual? I don’t want my kit outstripping my training but I’ll also have that stuff (decomp needle, NPA, etc) close by in my truck at the range if someone else is trained. Thanks so much for doing these videos. It gives us a good reading list and item breakdown so that when we can all get training we have a better starting point and can ask more informed questions.

Hey hurricane. I’m a former emt and firefighter with some frustrating experience in this regard. None of that equipment is to be used without training. KZbin is not training and can not provide licensure. With no licensure, I wouldn’t use any of the products. Good Samaritan laws may cover you legally, but not consciously. Good to have handy, but if you don’t, and nobody around you doesn’t, have the training, best bet is to let 911 dispatch walk you through what to do. Likely won’t include anything there. Long answer, but a lot of dudes put themselves into action without the capability. Serves no purpose but harm, even with good intentions. Get trained, stay safe

The law works both ways: you can be held liable for trying to provide care _above_ your certification level, just as you can be held liable _for not providing care_ when you are certified. Need to know your laws and limits of your training.

Why is Sheepdog Response advising people to remove a piece of potentially life-saving equipment rather than suggesting/encouraging them to pursue training with every piece of equipment they carry??? Oh, that's right because the big needle Could Be Mistaken For a Pen.🙄 Even if you are not trained that doesn't mean you won't find yourself in an emergency next to someone who is! It's better to have and not need, than need and not have. (You can't be trusted with a safety cased pneumothorax catheter, but hey! Here are some fun pistol and rifle shooting drills! It might vary due to jurisdiction, but when you are _actually certified_ to higher levels of emergency care, you are held to legal standards on what care you can and cannot provide. Not all places have "good samaritan laws" if you try to provide a standard of care you are not trained for. Likewise, if you _are_ trained to a certain level, and _don't_ provide that care, you also can be held legally liable. Fair point on saying you _might_ be near someone who is trained, but its not unreasonable to remind people not to just go f*cking around with anything in their kit. Training was emphasized throughout.

Ugh. Typical. This is marketed as a first aid kit, but it’s actually a trauma kit. For example, is has a CAT-but no bandaids. So you end up having to pack another kit for injuries more likely to occur (cuts, scrapes, burns, bites and stings). Get some training and build your own kit…..just in case your injury is something other than a gunshot wound.

@@stevexracer4309 Yeah, I read all the insults in your first response. You obviously did not watch the video or read my response. I stated the IFAK is a trauma kit, so I understand the difference. I carried IFAKs in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the video states it was intended for someone assembling a “first aid kit”.
