What can I say? This was an absolutely incredible tournament that had some of the best matches I've seen since I started getting into darts, and it ended in an all-time classic final. Congrats to MVG for taking his 3rd Matchplay title!!!

Wow. Just wow. Winning the second biggest major after just having surgery on his wrist and barely practicing before this tournament is incredible. Tonight we saw the true scoring power of MVG, the doubles were poor to begin with but did improve as the game went on. Had he hit those doubles he could've won like 18-6 because he outscored price averaged over 100 all game. Congratulations MVG, a true king of darts.

He played himself into form (like golfers admit some of them do too) Look at the averages, vs Adrian 89.xx in the first match, laughable for MvG - Then rising to 97, 101, 98 and finally 101 in the final. That's despite sucking HARD at doubles, and, those averages are not just 6-10 legs, it's an astronomical amounts of legs.

I love MVG. Such a lovely down to earth guy. Credit to Price as well for the good sportsmanship he showed MVG after MVG won. Also let’s not forget MVG had not long had wrist surgery before this Tournament, and he still managed to win it, shows the determination he has.

And there ends an absolutely brilliant tournament. Congratulations to MVG for winning his 3rd Matchplay title. What a way to finish it with a 121 checkout on the Bull and even though hes not been at his best during the tournament, he still wins it. Gotta feel for Price, he didnt play as well as he did the last few days but he was up the entire match until 14-14 and then just like yesterday, once MVG takes the lead he doesnt give it up. In fact he doesnt lose a single leg after he takes the lead. The scoring was unreal from MVG but all those chances missed at doubles was the reason he was behind in the first place. It just felt as though if he could start getting them in a bit more it would be a closer game and thats exactly what happened. After the 5th session, Price started missing some doubles and then the tables turned. A great final to top off a great tournament and i really love this format, it gives us great darts and i can just appreciate what we have seen from all the players during the entire week. I just love darts.

It was coming, Mighty MVG was showing glimpses of brilliance for a few months now just needed to sort out his doubles and boy has he been the best in this tournament. Gerwyn has been superb too but i am delighted for MVG he needed that to let the others know he is back! Has world darts ever been in a better place where realistically 10 players can be argued favourite for every tournament...love it!

He screamed and screamed and screamed, just to annoy. Thats why people dont like him. He is getting better and behaving better, so I like him more and more.

Well, Price got the World Number One spot but not the title. MVG did so well to take the title here. His doubles were not good at all at the start... but his scoring power gave him plenty of opportunities. And once he got the lead, he was never letting it go. Beauty of a checkout to win it too. World Matchplay number 3.

The finishing from mvg at the back end of the match was absolutely stunning. After missing so many doubles at the start to just have the bottle to take out they ton+ finishes in the last 5 games. Couldn't hit a double to save himself at the start it was insane but if he was hitting them I hate to say it but gerwyn may have been on the end of a bad one. he wasn't hitting big numbers himself to be fair he was just more clinical at the doubles. When Mvg puts it altogether he is aesome to watch and when starts getting those doubles it could be a very good end to the year for him after so many doubters wrote him off.

Amazing performance from MVG considering the surgery and lack of practice. Double trouble all through the tournament but got it together when it mattered. Price wasn't able to up his game when it mattered, which is unusual for him but showed great sportsmanship at the end. Keep it up Pricey. You don't need to do all that other stuff. Great matchplay tounament as usual.

Bloody Hell. Try as I might, I just can’t help but get invested in darts to the point of exhaustion when it’s this good. Pricey was only as immovable as MvG sabotaging the unstoppable in the most farcical fashion in parts. Unfortunately for Gerwyn, he was largely in the position of parrying throughout, and the deficit of margin for error that suggests played out exactly. Not sure how many times MvG is going to have to show that he’s unrivalled in championship legs for me (or anyone else) to stop doubting him whenever he’s in that situation. The man is different.
