I think it just depends on personal preference. I love Kelly’s singing style as opposed to Billie. Nothing against Billie at all, it’s just not my preference. So I prefer this version but I’m biased when Kelly sings anything. Props to Billie for her version, writing the song AND allowing Kelly to cover it. That was awesome of her.

This is my first time listening to Kelly’s cover I LOVED IT! But I also really want you to listen to the original and compare them. I love Kelly’s high notes and strength in the rock part but I prefer billie’s whispery part in the beginning because it gives a greater impact and contrast between the switch up, but I Really love Kelly’s powerful vocal and her clarity.

I prefer the production on Billie's by far. The instrumental outro feels so cathartic in Billie's. But Kelly's voice does wonders for this song as well. I love both versions for different reasons.

Kelly is beyond comparison. She is her own genre she is her own level of talent that not many people could ever reach in probably will ever reach. Billie while I don't really understand most of what she says, and her brother are fantastic writers but I don't think there's any comparing who did it better because it's two very different life perspectives one is a young girl and who has had her heart broken by someone who's crummy and the other one is a woman who has lived through a lot of crap and has not only had her heart broken but her children's heart broken and had to crawl out of that divorce. That lends to a very emotional song and like I said neither of them is a good or bad version Billy's version is the one she created so that's one thing but honestly as far as vocal talent goes there's really not a question. I do like Carrie Underwood. Some of her personal views have made it difficult to listen to her music happily but she is a very talented singer. She's saying alone and when she did she had a backup singer who took the entire upper octave. Her backup singer basically did the song. And a lot of things Carrie was struggling you could tell she has that vein on her forehead that just explodes when she has to actually push out a note if you watch even the karaoke version she's walking around when she hits that note better with absolutely zero strain. Even Demi Lovato they aren't a match they have a fantastic range but because of a lot of their activities in life their voice has lost some of its power and now doing Rock and screaming it's going to hurt it Kelly has instead cultivated her voice as she's got an older she has the whistle tone range but she doesn't use it very often because it can wreck your voice sorry that was a lot of comparisons but when you talk about a loan I think that there's not even a close semblance between Carrie and Kelly
