Hi Tim....The baths and library plus the rest of the building on that block are all pre reset pluss many more building like the spartan works, gentlemen club, yourkshire bank and the wosskow building still has remains of the energy technology on the top passed off as decoration. The reform chappel is also a very old building, there are to many to mention as both sides of the roads have buildings with burried levels. 😊

Dave to be honest I didn't notice the rest of it, but so much has gone. There was once a massive church here bombed in the war. But when I watch the video back, I saw what looked like three lower entranceways into the library. I wanted to record as much as I could in one go. Best Tim

Another great video , i was born about a mile away across the River :} Tinsley wire industry Ltd { TWIL } it was called , a lot of the new stuff like IKEA saw being built as i passed it every day going to work, interesting, about Marcway Models the original shop was a few doors up towards Staniforth Rd, its been there since the 60`s ,used to buy all my kits from there, the Sheffield cop shop at the end of the video was formerly Abbey National building society when it was a mutual ,my grandmother used to get all her furniture and household goods from Banners ,she hardly went into Sheffield city centre for them, the coffee chain who are in the Carbrook Hall dates back to the English civil war, no one remembers the 1980 steel strike i do :} Dunford Hadfields was a big steel firm where Meadowhall is now , i worked for BSC on shepcote lane at the time, we were out 13 weeks no money not even strike pay ,we wanted 20 % got single figures :} Maggie had got in in May 1979 , Sir Keith Joseph was the industry secretary during the dispute over pay .

Fascinating info; yes, people used to go to Banners and Attercliffe was thriving and bustling I had school friends who lived there in late 60s so I remember Pierrepont's fruit and Banners but it did not affect the city centre at all which was also thriving.

@@misscoutts6193 hello again ,when as kids we were bored on sunday afternoons, we used to ask our Gran to tell us about the war ,as my grandparents lived through the Sheffield Blitz of December 1940, my grandfather had been in the regular army in the 1930`s but was released for war work in Sheffield as he was skilled in hardening and tempering of steel ,she told us the direct hit on the Marples hotel in Sheffield , and that some of the casualties were left in the cellars ,whether thats true i dunno , but was good scare story :} one for most haunted :} for local history i will give a shout out to a site called Dirty stopouts , remember the fiesta nightclub and later Romeo and Juliets ,the top Rank on Saturday mornings as we were too young for Ze booze then :}

Thank you. I come out of the Rotherham steel works and remember the 85% pay and a weeks holiday. So much of Attercliffe history went before I was born in 1964. My parents who lived at Handsworth could come down by tram and not shop in Sheffield city centre.

Just remembered Tim if you go down carbrook towards meadowhell there is a beutifull old pub called the New inn . It has been shut as a pub for at least 30 years but the facade is very well preserved I think it is used for something else now but i don't know what, well worth a look tho if you havn't seen it .

That old school used to be Players cafe in the late 90s for a few years Tim a lot of footballers and the like had stakes in it . Behind it was two purpurse built nightclubs called the Pulse & vogue which ran for about 8 years or so > They were absolutely rocking in the first few years so much so that there were free bendy buses (remember them) from Sheffield city centre that took you down to them about 11pm and they were always packed out . On the corner of colleridge road was a Gay club called Lydias which was the Salutation inn before that , that were a good night out even if you wasn't gay nobody cared and the music was brilliant long before all this PC nonsense Happy days Tim 😃

Eyup Tim memories are flooding back as a watch this.The "Gentlemans club" was the Dog & Partridge Probably the roughest pub on't cliffe in it's time.Marcways model shop my childhood mecca I remember my bedroom ceiling looking like the battle of Britain! Behlnd the church on Zion lane was a paper and printing firm which my aunty used to manage think it was pulled down in the mid 70s .The Don valley hotel was i think the Coach and Horses but I could be wrong , Pierpoints shop has been like that for about 45 years! opposite was the Travellers inn which was demolished about 2 years ago ,was a great pub with a concert room at the back . The Adelphi was turned into a nightclub in the early 90s . Next to the baths on the corner of worksop road was a pub called the Golden Ball my favorite pub on the cliffe demolished in the late 80s ,glad the Library is still standing but for how long who knows ! great video again Tim cheers👍

Great video Tim, I used to go to Attercliffe baths when I was a kid, then in the seventies sometimes used to call in the Dog and Partridge pub that's the one that you said turned into the Gentlemans club. My wife and I still drive through Attercliffe about once a week on our way to Meadowhall, always makes us laugh when we drive past the shop Hanky Panky

Great video walk Tim. You could count the people on one hand. The Old Chapel looks like they've cleared the graveyard it was the first video i did in 2018. Supposedly built by the Bright iron making family. Carbrook Hall was the residence of one of the 3 sons of Henry Bright. Amberley Steeet is Freemans i worked there for 3 years. Your remark about looking like America was just my own thoughts! People don't walk in these areas because its deserted, therefore, dont feel safe and it's worse after dark.
