Well, I didn't think I would see a 156 described as "heritage" for a few years yet! Thank you for another great video.

Great video, thanks Don. The Hope Valley line is so pretty, especially in nice weather. Nice to see that not quite all the semaphores have disappeared. I wonder if colour light signals will attract the same nostalgia when (if) ERTMS ever takes over.....
@doncoffey58205 ай бұрын
I suppose they will. I think for a long time, they will keep the existing signals.

Greetings from an Australian rail fan. As always , another great video. With many people in shorts , I presumed it was a hot day when this video was filmed.Very cold in Albury NSW where I live.

Great to see you Richard. Yes, it was a rare warm day but it’s the middle of summer here and it isn’t brilliant. I keep watching your videos!

That's a line I've not travelled for many, many years! Thanks for taking me down memory line!!! By the way, there is another line that crosses the Pennines, it's the Tyne Valley line from Newcastle to Carlisle.
@doncoffey58205 ай бұрын
Quite right Phillip. We tend to forget that one down here.

Much appreciated. The weedkiller does get out and about but they’re not allowed to use anything strong these days, it all has to be environmentally friendly of course.

I remember Manchester - Sheffield as the most besutiful railway line of England.

It certainly is scenic and I’m lucky to live alongside it.

The improvements at Dore & Totley are good, but not great. Wouldn’t it have been much better to reinstate the mainline platforms to trains to/from Chesterfield, Nottingham and Derby etc. can call?
@doncoffey58205 ай бұрын
That’s true but there were about another four stations between Dore and Sheffield, where do you stop and does the cost justify saving a trip to Sheffield? Maybe it does, I don’t know.

A very nice run, clear weather, high def camera and no sun glare. Worth doing the reverse run?

It’s already done from a 195. It just needs me to find time to edit it!

To be honest, all my journeys between Manchester and Sheffield in the early 90's were all via Stockport.
@doncoffey58205 ай бұрын
Yes, both TPE and EMR run express from Sheffield to Stockport but that stopping service should go via Romiley.

It really has dropped but they must have been confident it was safe. They are currently driving enormous piles in. I’ll show the finished product in a future video.

Class 156 is now heritage??? there is still a lot of them around along with the 150' and 158's , can we afford to make new ones???, we are still waiting on 'Great British Rail' to arrive.

Is heritage code for old and knackered? These have always been my least favourite stock but appreciate they are needed. Do you miss driving them Don?
@doncoffey58205 ай бұрын
Haha, you could say that but they constantly update them so only the frame and shells are original. As you say, they simply can’t do without them. I used to enjoy doing the Blackpool services from Buxton but I struggled with legroom in them and sitting sideways was a sure way to get backache. You can’t beat a 185!
@Colt-bd2mv5 ай бұрын
Was that a CrossCity 323 at Stockport Station?
@doncoffey58205 ай бұрын
It was yes, they’re all transferring to Northern as they have brand new stock down there.

Your videos contain far too many information bars. I can't concentrate on the god damn trip for them. I don't know what you're on about anyway for most of the time.
@doncoffey58205 ай бұрын
Some say not enough. At least I don’t run 3 lines of text like the news channels and don’t forget, it’s for charity.
