I have a peace lily that was at my husband's funeral 21 yrs. ago. I got sick and couldn't take care of my plants and being such a thirsty plant, it nearly died. There was very few leaves left, maybe 3. When I got well, I cleaned it up and started taking care of it and it's gotten to be rather nice looking now in comparison. I had a tiny 2 leaf section I potted by itself and it's just a lovely plant now. The little one blooms. The other one hasn't bloomed yet. I think it's still recovering, but it's getting there.

When my peace lilies crowd the pot, I simply divide them. 3 years ago I had a huge plant that I have been growing for close to 10 years and kept repotting in bigger and bigger pots. Then I took it out, and divided it to about 15 plants. I potted them all in new containers by the size of the plant, and had enough to give to friends. Today, I have 7 beautiful plants, and I will divide the biggest one again this spring. What a joy!

I live in south Georgia US. I have a Peace Lily that one of my best friends gave to me. My back yard is covered with tall oak trees shading almost all the area with patches of sunlight coming through, I have the lily on the back porch. Now here in the south the summers are hot and humid. The lily LOVES it. It blooms twice a year, but the flower starts off white then turns green while outside. When I bring it the flower turns white again. Only time I bring it in is during the winter or if we have bad weather such as hurricanes or tornados. I've had this lily for 9 years now.

@cynthiamcwhorter6721 Жыл бұрын
@deansnipah1392 they only time mine will wilt is if it's bone dry. Make sure to give it plenty of water especially in this heat. I have to water mine twice a day now. I don't keep it in direct sun for long either. I move my containers to the shade. I get a cross breeze and it can beat the plant up pretty good so I move them when needed. I accidentally left them out in the winter and there was ice all over them. I cut them back to the ground watered them good and they bounced back, but I'm in Texas so winter for us is not as severe. One of the most important things is good potting soil. I swear by Miracle Grow potting soil. They also make a version for plants and trees that I use for anything I put in the ground. Have you repotted your plant to a bigger container yet? Sorry this is so long. Lol 😆

chopping up banana peel is a great tip ( but what about banana peel tea ) put banana peel in a glass jar, top it up with water.. let it soak for 2 days.. and drain the jar, throw the peel over the fence in your neighbours garden, use the "tea" in a 50/50 with rainwater to feed your Peace lily's. ( or other plants ) 😇
@jend86942 жыл бұрын
Mine bloom all the time. I put them near a window where they get about 2 hours of direct sunlight. They're much happier there & grow like crazy. I soak banana peels in the water I give them. The only downside is the flowers put off a ton of white pollen that gets everywhere so I'm always having to wipe off the leaves. It looks like someone sprinkled baby powder on them.

Hmm, I have two peace lily's in two locations. I have one small one on my western window cill which gets 8 hours of direct afternoon light in the summer and that's only bloomed twice for me this year, and I have a slightly larger one on my old TV just a bit away and that's only given me 1 flower, and even then it still has yet to open. And I'm pretty sure all of them turned green within the first week of having them, so uh...? They are split off of a plant that died from root rot, so maybe they're still recovering but it does make me a little sad. Before the root rot, the entire plant was on my window cill and it gave me a lot of blooms even though it did originally burn. So I dunno, maybe it is just the root rot.

Hi. I have several pots of peace lilies in my garden but they are outdoors under my bamboo grove. They are not in direct sunlight and they flower enough. I think its because they like our weather here in the tropics more. I don't use hormones and I don't fertilize them frequently. I have almost gotten my peace lily to bloom. I gave me a few smallish, not very white flowers once or twice in about a year and half of owning it. Now I will have to be more careful with temperature. My best indirect light spot is in between two exterior doors, unfortunately, every time someone comes or goes, it lets the draft hit those plants that are right there. That's where I've had it for some time, but I think I can arrange it to be about two meters from an east facing window this spring.

My peace lily is in water , only. The leaves were burning outside. I brought them back in the house, and changed the tap water to distilled water. They are growing new shoots and look bright and happy.
@eamonnbarrett79952 жыл бұрын
That sounds right and its not a con, i have bought the Peace lily and the flowers never came back. I over compensated by watering it too much and killing the whole plant eventually. I didn't know about the Gibberellic acid.

Fair enough. Folks don’t understand why they don’t come back. Mostly needs time and patience

It takes patience and right conditions to keep a happy plant. We all make watering mistakes and have a learning curve. The plant uses up the minerals , and it needs new soil for the pot.

Commercial growing of plants today has nothing on the mass production techniques of other things like automobiles or Kellogg's cornflakes. Perfect lighting, humidity, soil, nutrients, watering on an optimum automated schedule, and so on. I understand it of course, the goal is to move the merchandise. But thank you for saying out loud what I often tell the wife "steady girl this the best this plant is ever going to look" when she wants to fill one of those industrial sleds with one of everything at the garden center🥴 But gibberellic acid, good lord.

I found a plant on top of someone's garbage and I didn't know what kind of plant it was until today. I have been moving it around my yard trying to keep the leaves from turning brown. I got one flower yesterday. I think I have been giving it too much water. I also think it's ready for a slightly larger pot.

You don't need to put a water meter in a Peace Lily. Just water it as soon as it droops. If it droops every 7 days you can water it every 6 days to prevent drooping.

I clean the brown stems out of the flower stem where the lilly blooms about oct. and by nov.l have beautiful lilies at least 6-8 of them before that l had 3 a couple of times in 4yrs. and my plant is so full and pretty now...they need a lot of attention till you figure out what works for them....

@@SheffieldMadePlants There is a stem inside the stem that dies and turns brown and kept my lilly not blooming good at all till l inspected my plant and watched it turn brown it was dead and very dry so they pulled right out from the stem..the lilies then just shot out or bloomed nicely and l also keep the dead leaves off when they get really brown it's not healthy for the plant and once l pulled the brown stems out it's doubled in size...l'm a plant person l love to get to know what is best for them to grow and be beautiful.. BTW l also put my plants in the bathtub and give them a little shower and dry them overnight it's wonderful for them.... hope this helps bcuz the br.stems you look beside the green stem it grows beside it and you'll see the br.stem sticking up some...

I made a timelapse of this plant after watering, see my channel without obligation of course, it's great fun to see how the leaves rise, so in the summer time make sure the plant gets enough water and I give the plant in the growing season also contains cow manure in granular form, all plants only receive a few granules at most twice a year. My spathiphyllum is barely 50cm from the window, I only have sunlight from the east as my window sill faces north, so the sun hits my window at an angle and disappears after an hour and that is just enough for all plants.

Great video! I have three of them in my outside garden down here in the Tampa-St. Pete area. It's in partial shade and is growing like a weed. It is a bit slow on bloom department, I get a half a dozen at a time, but that's ok, I really use it as a filler plant.

Whats funny is mine has been blooming constantly since I got it a year ago. I literally ignore it. I only water when it gets droopy. I currently have five blooms popping up. The average temp in the room is 17C. If there was anything I can say I do regularly and differently than some, I'll pour the last sip of my coffee in the plant occasionally. Not often, just if I happen to be drinking coffee and notice the plant is drooping and needs water.
