Also he's going to remain handsome probably forever.

As a Niners fan, he gave this team everything he had. He never held back, he never acted like a diva, he helped train his replacement. You saw him over on the sideline with Purdy going over plays. Jimmy's a lot better at QB than he get credit for being. For instance you claiming that he "threw an interception..." where the ball actually made contact with at least 2 players (teammates) hands before it was caught by a defender. Kyle Shannihan is actually pretty hard on QB's and has a history of getting them injured. And Davante Adams orchestrated that "over-throw" so he could have his tantrum... His Derek Carr loyalty is admirable, but he is still a jerk for not running full stride to make that catch.

The trade for Jimmy G is underrated. Giving up a 3rd rounder to stabilize the QB position. Which allowed the team to draft Bosa instead of Daniel Jones or Dwayne Haskins in the first round of the 2019 draft. And that then allowed them to draft Deebo in the 2nd, Wishnowsky in the 4th, and Greenlaw in the 5th. That put the team back in winning mode.

FARKING AWESOME COMMENT. I AM SO FARKING TIRED of that part of the Niner fanbase who just crap all over Jimmy. YEAH he made mistakes and YEAH Purdy is a better fit in the Shanahan system. BUT all the Jimmy G knockers forget that Jimmy dragged us out of the gutter that was the first half of that 2017 Season. At that stage our club was FARKED in big giant letters. The first half of 2017 was shite with no hope going forward. There was just pain, more pain and more pain after that. YEAH we should have won Superbowl LIV, but everyone forgets the defense let KC score 21 points in the 4th quarter AND NOBODY EVER POINTS THAT OUT. I really like Brock Purdy and think we got damn lucky to get him. He should have been a 3rd or 4th round pick. 31 other clubs should sack their recruiting staff for that miss. But he also FAILED to close the game out after leading by 10 points and NOBODY is calling for him to be sold off. What are all those supporters who screamed for Jimmy's head going to do if Purdy fails to deliver this year?

The answer is pretty simple. He tore his ACL in 2018, had two high ankle sprains in 2020, a calf sprain, torn ligament, and shoulder sprain in 2021, a foot fracture in 2022, and then a back injury last year. That last game he played was hard to watch, he looked visibly pained and broken. Some guys just are unlucky.
@mariaderossi95163 ай бұрын
It's true, he just looked lost last year. There were scenes where I thought he was going to start crying. And I don't think Jimmy G is talking about his hurt feelings or his mental health.

He has a body that is easily broken, that isn't unlucky but just how his body is. Most people don't play a violent sport for a living so they never realize how easily they could get injured if a 275 pound person of pure muscle hits them as hard as they can.
@DDDYLN26 күн бұрын
His career definitely went down the tubes due to injuries. And yes, some people are just more injury prone than others. I should know, I'm one of them. I was captain and MVP of my collegiate wrestling team, and a champion. 3 levels of my lumbar spine are fused, my neck is fused in one spot, I had to have my right shoulder reconstructed, I badly strained my hamstrings and quads multiple times, etc. I was always a very good athlete, but you never know what your genetic weaknesses are with respect to getting injured. Some guys are like Gumby. No matter how many times it looks like they got injured badly, they pop right back up. Tom Brady took a ton of hard hits. And indeed he did tear his ACL once. But, he recovered well, and went on to win 3 or 4 more Super Bowls. He was in his early 40's when he retired. Guys like Jimmy G. are either injury prone,, unlucky, or a combination of both. That said, quarterbacks who run a lot, tend to have shorter careers. Running the ball is always a risk.
@josephpearlman40105 ай бұрын
He went from a confident QB to a timid and apprehensive one after his injury. He no longer waited in the pocket for receivers to get open deep and chose to dump off most of the time. If not for the ability of his receivers to get yardage after the catch, his stats would be much worse.
@SuperCatacata4 ай бұрын
Anyone who has torn an ACL knows how hard it is to get that confidence back. The healing process takes around 9 months, but the mental aspect to fully trust knee again can take certain people years. Many people never fully recover that confidence too, like Jimmy.

Lifelong 49er fan, Jimmy was far from perfect. His panic button was not good. He threw balls to the defense and a lot of passes that increased injury risk to his receivers. That being said, I enjoyed the seasons he gave us. If the NFL didn’t want a new poster boy he would have won a ring with SF. Jimmy got smashed by defenses throughout his entire career. If he got the flags Brady got, his health would’ve been better and a lot more games won due to 15 yard roughing the passer. The QB room in SF was non existent for about a decade. Good bad and ugly Jimmy gave us some good football. He was concussed in that Super Bowl after taking illegal hits that never got called. KC Super Bowl rings were gifts from Rodger Goodell.

I think the term “game manager “ for a quarterback isn’t actually a bad thing. There’s a lot of good quarterbacks that fall into that category and some have rings: Trent Dilfer being one.

Jimmy was finished after his ACL tear. He had a promising career. Before that, ppl forget how athletic he was. He obviously wasn't Lamar Jackson but he was kinda like Aaron Rodgers. Not insanely mobile but good enough to extend plays and make some great throws outside of the pocket or even scramble for a good chunk. After that, he was immobile and didn't have the arm talent to make great plays. Not saying he didn't have a powerful arm at all, he had a great throwing motion but he wasn't on a Matt Stafford type level where he could solely rely on his arm like Stafford does. He was an above average qb, top 12-10 imo but post ACL, was about ~20-25. Was still efficient but it was obvious how hindered his game was especially considering how bad the SF pass pro is.

Jimmy Garoppolo didn't just break Easten Illinois' passing and TD record. He broke the OVC's record by a significant margin and no one is even close. 1200 more passing yards and 33 more TDs then the next highest (Tony Romo was in 2nd with 85 career TDs).

When he gets pressure he panics, is afraid of getting hurt again and just throws himself somewhere. The happy feet are frightening. I don't understand why he doesn't work on his problem. After losing the SB he has even less self-confidence and self-belief... or is he just playing so that he doesn't have to play anymore and gets on the bench and doesn't have to retire? therapy is advisable too

I remember everybody talking about how Jimmy G was the real deal and I never bought any of it and was ridiculed for my stance. Shockingly nobody has apologized for how completely wrong they were and how insanely brilliant I was for being right. Quite frankly if you actually watched the games and paid attention you could easily tell it wasn't Jimmy G that was great but it was his teammates, play calling, opponents play calling and luck that was making him look so much better than he was. It was only a matter of time before reality came knocking.

Jimmy ghosts his team and teammates during the offseason and comes back to camp out of shape. He's obviously not working on his craft to be the best player he can be.
@mariaderossi95165 ай бұрын
That's right. He also doesn't build relationships with new teammates when he's just hanging out with his brothers. He takes them everywhere with him. Okay I understand he is shy and introverted but put on the big boy pants. Since losing the BS he has no self-confidence. The nervous ticks got so bad that he now stutters at press conferences. I think he's been out of shape since 2022, I thought it was blatant last year that you could see it through his "uniform". He always tugs at his jersey to make his stomach disappear. I don't understand why he doesn't learn from his mistakes.

It was his knee injury. He lost his ability to scramble. He had a great 2019, and he was was really good in 2022 but I think he was set to be the next Brady before that injury.
