Just to clarify about the title....I'm NOT Calling Gronk Dumb. I put dumb in quotations to try and show that it was being said by OTHER PEOPLE and not really true! In the video I try to show that Gronk has a goofy personality, but actually has an insanely high football IQ and is really smart. He is truly one of my fave players ever! On a podcast, someone mentioned Rob's affinity for the number 'sixty-nine' (69). They started quizzing him, like, "what's 12 time 69?" Or "30 times 69." It took him a few moments, but he could do it all in his head. Impressive stuff, really.

I actually argue the opposite. Gronk is/was never dumb. He comes off as not being book smart which could be true. However, he did several clever things in his career that I thought were hilarious. He was supposed to be traded to the Lions in 2018 (I think it was actually a done deal) but told the Patriots he was retired so the trade was killed lol. During Covid in Tampa, he was required to run a certain amount of times/days during his training. Gronk hated running so much that he decided to do all of his running in one day and filmed himself doing it in different outfits and at different times in the day to make it seem like he did all of the required running and sent the footage to the Bucs lol. He's stated several times that he has only spent his endorsement money and not his salary. When it comes to football IQ, the guy definitely was smart in that area.

It is sad there have been so many great tight ends who could’ve been generational but it is a coaching dependent position before now. People did not see just how important the position could be before guys like Bill Walsh, Mike Shanahan and then Bill Belichick. On top of that, it takes an incredibly brilliant quarterback to truly use them to their potential. But the great ones realize since it’s normally not speed dependent, you can have a tight end play much longer. That’s why there are such great pairings like Mahomes and Kelce , Brady and Gronk, Elway and Sharpe.
