Jayden and Robert are superficially similar. Tall, lanky black QBs with track athlete bodies. Both are smart, and both are hard-working. Both are supercompetitive. But that's about where the similarity ends. They're polar opposites in alot of other areas. The biggest, IMHO is humility. Jayden has it, and Robert VERY much didn't. Robert was convinced that he knew more than he did. He failed to see how the Shanahans MADE him into a success in 2012 despite his limitations, and only saw how he destroyed the league on an efficiency basis in the first 2/3rds of the season before the injury, and then fumed with jealousy when Kirk Cousins was 'allowed' to run a conventional NFL offense like he wanted to. He couldn't comprehend how not ready for that he was. Jayden is the polar opposite. Jayden's every public remark has been to reinforce that he doesn't want to be handed anything. After the draft, someone asked him what it felt like to be a star QB, and he chided the reporter, reminding him that he hadn't even seen the playbook yet or started a game. He was on board with Quinn & Co. making him earn the starting job, even if we could all see that Marcus Mariota was already dramatically inferior to him. He's consistently talked about the things he needs to improve. And he studies like a pocket passer does...something Robert never did. Robert had great work ethic in the weight room and on the practice field...but never with the mental prep.

This is a great analysis of Robert. If you go look at his old highlights, the comments are filled with "Mike Shanahan ruined him", when in fact, Robert rushed himself because he wanted the glory and spotlight that cousins was getting. That Shanahan staff was probably the greatest staff this team has ever assembled and there were like 4 future head coaches and top coordinators that came from it.

RG3 cant even hold a candle to Jayden Daniels. All he could do was run, run and run some more. RG3 couldn't read a defense, consistently make accurate throws, and have a team rally around him. RG3 is no where near Jayden when it comes to QB IQ/overall talent.

This will be unpopular but it should be said: Honestly there shouldnt even be a waiver for that, its just kinda irresponsible. There's another reality where his offensive line wasnt as good and he got a compound fracture that stopped him from playing ever again. Kid was seriously a stick figure, you really want a 250lb lineman to fall on him and just hope that it wont be at a bad angle? Lets be truthful here: how would one year on JV going to hurt the kid, exactly? Staying down and being too good is not really a problem. Going up and being too small is a gamble to not get them hurt. Especially when other schools hear about the '9th grade wonderboy' they're explicitly going to try to smash him. Couple that with the potential of having a lineman who is good friends with the QB who is sitting for this kid who just "happens" to miss a block on a play that will get him blindsided? Highschool politics are rough, particularly when everyone is too young and headstrong to realize the real, long term consequences. Just because it worked out this time doesnt mean its a good idea.

A guy I loved but the compilation vids/gifs of his hits were brutal in 2012. Not just running, the pocket, just too brave, wham every other throw and no penalties for that back then. The way Jayden scrambled into danger, and the way he got walloped was worse then RG3 2012. But I watched Bengals game close, only 3rd game, JD SLID, avoided punishment and won in the air.

I used to have a very long list of things I thought I needed to see from Daniels before jumping onboard. That list caught fire and then disappeared in the second half of the Bengals game. It's the best half I've seen a Redskins QB play. Ever. And because I'm old that includes three Super Bowl runs. Doug was the best of them, and not even he played like this. This looked composed, sustainable, driven, the leadership is there, the accuracy is there, the work and the prep is clearly there and the brain is there. Not going to the Super Bowl quite yet, but I have already purchased three brand new brooms...If this is who Jayden Daniels intends to be as a Redskins QB, no one in the NFC East is stopping it.
