Rental vehicle are covered when in possession of the owner . Once it is rented you have to buy extra insurance from rental company for your self and to cover the car incase you cause damages . Secondly your own personal auto insurance and high class credit cards covers your liability on that rental vehicle and you dont have to buy extra insurance. Pls check with your own auto insurance first . Canadians dont buy rental car insurance because they know their rental car is covered under own auto insurance

May be he was asking about excess protection. Normally insurance is included in the rental fee. But they have a clause of excess. Like if damage done. A person will have to pay 2000 and anything above that damage will be covered by rental company. But if you pay lets say 100 pound extra then we will reduce the excess to 100 from 2000 pound lets say. So this extra payment to reduce excess is what he may be referring to as insurance. That extra payment is not mandated by law. People buy it as protection. And i think that won't be allowed. As one may not cause any damage and that extra money paid for reduction of excess protection will go wasted. That is what is the principle behind insurance being prohibited. So i think one should not take excess protection, that is a voluntary and not mandatory by law.

Even if thats what he meant the guy wasnt sure about the laws regarding this. Regarding the Islamic ruling, the same reason as to the principle insurance. As to the excess he will need to pay it anyways if the company asks him to do so. if not then there is no need to.

We all heard the brother; the first thing he said on live TV to the Sheikh was that the Sheikh did not understand his question. Even though that was disrespectful, the Sheikh smiled over it and answered his question. Being respectful, kind, not harsh and polite is not only meant for Sheikhs. We are Muslim brothers and sisters and should have regard for each other, especially for elders. Some of these Sheikhs take their time to come on TV to answer questions. Some of us need to be aware of the manner we ask questions. I've asked so many questions from the Sheikh and he always responded to my question politely. I have no negative things to say about him. May Allah guide us all.

There are airlines which will give you insurance for your flight with business class. It is not a necessity and it could be avoided through economy class. Should I take economy class instead of business class now? Same applies to car rental companies that have an increased rate for fully insured cars. Should I avoid the increased rate and get the worse insured car? Lets say a country mandates health insurance and the lowest tier of health insurance costs 1000$ yearly and a better tier costs 1005$ yearly where you get extra teeth care, extra screening, extra luxurious rooms and better choice at choosing doctors which would cost 5000$ yearly in and of itself. Should I take the much worse deal of 100$? This question surely deserves more in depth answers.

He’s not asking about the insurance law He thinks that insurance is haram thats why he’s thinking if somebody uses the name insurance for some charge so that charge will be haram too, that he wanted to clarify he’s saying that the rental company that his father rented the car from has a policy that if there’s any damage to the car they charge 2% of the value, and they call that charge ‘Insurance’, so because they call it insurance, so i as a muslim want to know if it is ok to continue with their rental service or not because i think Insurance is haram, so his ques.
