Sadly there are technical issues with some of the other tracks..... It was recorded long before social media and we never thought it'd be used in a context like this. Some of the tracks are okay, like this one. Others would take some fixing...

Its similar to the Eastman musical beat counting system in the US. 1 Ta-te-ta 2 ta-te-ta and such. Its too complicated for me to type out here, but its more of an art form in India, and its not a language (unless your considering a musical language) and its not speaking in tongues (unless you consider each language is a different "tongue".) Sheila Chandra, you are a beautiful artist! Jai Bhagwan 💚🙏💙

Was that a question? If so, bad news. She no longer sings (or speaks, or laughs) because of Burning Mouth Syndrome she somehow.. contracted? Developed? No one rly knows bc BMS is less researched at this point than Coronavirus. It doesn't kill you, you see: it only makes you mute. A damn shame for her cause she was fabulous.

@@ivandovranic5834 This is so very sad. As someone who slowly and eventually went deaf, I can still hardly imagine how hard this must be for her. I pray someone finds a solution to her ailment. I went deaf from taking Cipro long term, nobody is really researching that either and there are probably millions of people suffering from chronic fatigue - cns issues - tendon tears & ruptures, heart issues.. on and on. Anyways I am hearing her voice electronically and I am still learning to adjust but can tell she had an amazing gift. Prayers for her!!

She developed a rare neurological disorder called Burning Mouth Syndrome. Not only can she not sing, she can’t speak, laugh or cry without intense pain. Poor woman, how awful that must be.

Sheila has come down with the rare "burning mouth disease", so she can't sing or even talk. But she is a wonderful and a strong woman, and is now making ends meet as a writer.

@@tatunka8043 apparently the jokes have left this universe , because people get offended and into conclusions in an instant click. 😂 to assume that I don’t appreciate her talents and her effort is stupid. Then to assume that because of my reference to light language I try to diminish any of this is stupid too. Then to answer your question I have many special talents as I am sure all people do. So please stop the comparisons between me, her or anyone to make a point because it says more about you than it says about me.

@@tatunka8043 also I know exactly what speaking in tongue’s means. All children of this world at some point communicate with this type of language. Then I made a small comment joke , because speaking in tongues comes from the heart not the mind, so does light language. You see the connection? Child heart speaking tongues light language?

Takadadakitadkakatakdada? Seriously? Your are clearly repeating simple sounds. This is nowhere near an actual language. There are no words or syntax. Do you really believe you are saying something? You sound nice, and your inflections with the microphone reverb can be soothing. But to claim that this is a language is hard to swallow.
@celinee.95625 жыл бұрын

@roems63965 жыл бұрын
Celine E. Try what? Making a bunch of nonsense sounds? I already know that I, and everyone else, can do it. There’s even a musical genre call skat based on it.
@roems63965 жыл бұрын
Celine E. You can even see by her hand motions that it is much more akin to musical sounds than a language. There’s nothing wrong with that, but claiming it is a language is demonstrably false. Linguists have studied speaking in tongues, and they have shown that it is merely base sounds (phonemes) based on the speaker’s native language, because languages that have different phonemes speak in tongues using only their own phonemes. People who claim to translate have been proven not to be able to repeat those claims when similar sounds were used at different times. Nor could they repeat the translation when the same sounds were recorded and played back later.
@sheilachandra00005 жыл бұрын
This is not a language. They are onomatopoeic syllables related to tabla drums with North Indian classical patterns and where unlike their use in classical music, I break up the time cycles deliberately. The name 'Speaking in Tongues' refers more to the emotional effect than anything literal.
@maaikegee5 жыл бұрын
Speaking in tongues... I guess it's just the title ;-) Probably because ithe source of this beautiful piece stems from improvisation and inspiration, rather than a preset piece of music. Interestingly, there's a whole area in linguistics that researches the sound systems of drum languages in various cultures: Indian pakhawaj (bols) and tabla (konnakol) for instance, or African drum languages (the latter are actually used for communication, even though they don't have words). And what's remarkable is that drum languages show many similarities to spoken languages in their phonological system. That is, in describing pakhawaj sounds, there's a comparable sound-classification-system as in natural language (dha - ta corresponds to voiced - voiceless in hindi/sanskrit, and in different places of articulation on the drum). So true, there may be no meaning that's conveyed in bols or konnakol (and therefore, it's not a proper language), but the sound systems can be described in a phonological framework, making it a linguistics subject in its own right. And you're right, there's a musical genre called scat. It has its origins in the very music that Ms. Chandra is singing here ;-)
